Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home

Gardening Club

Here at Sherwood Court, we have some new keen members to our gardening club! Hosted by Hayley, Barbara and Elizabeth have took up their tools and bulbs and got potting away this morning, both Barbara and Elizabeth shared fond memories of keeping their gardens in good order, and no matter the weather, would always be outside potting new flowers, pulling up weeds or just sat admiring their hard efforts of their beautiful gardens.

Gardening connects us with nature, and it is found that spending time in green spaces helps people destress and relax. This is important for our residents as it can help overcome feelings of loneliness, isolation and help us come together to embrace the natural beauty that Sherwood Court’s garden has to offer.

A Donation from Asda

Here today at Sherwood Court, Hayley and Cath visited our local Asda, to meet with community champion Debbie. Debbie has been busy putting together a lovely donation for Sherwood Court’s annual Easter raffle, which is fast approaching. Debbie thoroughly enjoys meeting our residents and is always on hand to rely on for a donation, she really does enjoy helping our home!

Thankyou Asda (Fulwood) for your continued support to our home.

Pet Therapy

Here today at Sherwood Court, residents have thoroughly enjoyed meeting Border Collie, Jax! He is a 6 year old Welsh Collie, and thoroughly enjoyed giving out cuddles and kisses as much as receiving them. Residents really engaged with Jax, brought so many smiles and out came fond memories of our residents pets they owned.

Pet therapy is a great way to aid with anxiety, depression, help people communicate, bring happiness and joy and a sense of love. Resident Elizabeth wanted to keep Jax as she said he is the most beautiful puppy dog she has seen in a long time, Liz normally sits out daily waiting for Robin to feed him, however today she got to interact with Jax!

A Fond Farewll to Students

Everyone at Sherwood Court would like to say farewell and good luck to Ella and Alisha, students from Preston College. It was our first time taking on students for work placement, and the girls said they have really enjoyed themselves spending time with each resident, helping out where they can, going on outings with the activities coordinator. Working alongside the carers, activities coordinator and the hostess to get an insight to health and social care and help Ella and Alisha to develop them both moving forward with their studies.

Well done for your efforts and huge good luck with your studies.

Lads Pub Treat

Here at Sherwood Court, we gave one of our birthday boys the treat he requested! Pub lunch and a tipple with pal James. The lads enjoyed fish and chips and burgers and chips, while watching the football with a tipple of choice to hand, they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves, James said “it is so good to be able to get out and do normal things like going to the pub for a pint” and of course how can we say no!

To finish off, we had ice cream sundaes and took the scenic route back to home while they both took in the fresh air and scenery.

Happy birthday Patrick,

Love team Sherwood Court.

Facetime

Here at Sherwood Court, we are committed to keeping residents in touch with their families as best we can. Facetimes are a beautiful way for families who live far, or just want a weekly chat with their loved ones, it brings so much joy to the resident and we are so happy to be able to share this moment; seeing families come together. Here is Pat chatting to her husband via facetime, telling him about the dancing she had just been doing while we had Abi in singing for joy. Amazing moment to capture.
