Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Stay Safe!
Residents of Sherwood Lodge have been overwhelmed with messages from their local community. The local constabulary have visited and clapped for carers whilst delivering Easter eggs, and this time, the local youth group, Impact Youth Group, have created a banner to cheer everyone up and bring a smile to their faces. Everyone is looking forward to time when they can visit again for coffee and cake!
A Special Delivery
Residents and colleagues at Sherwood Lodge were delighted to answer the door to accept a special delivery from their local food outlet, Zebra. The boxes were filled with fresh produce of fruit and vegetables for everyone to enjoy during this difficult period.
On behalf of Sherwood Lodge, residents and colleagues would like to pass on their gratitude for being considered at this time of uncertainty, and hope everyone stays safe and well.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Residents of Sherwood Lodge have been busy making ‘rainbows’, which they have displayed along their front entrance to add a splash of colour and bring a smile to anyone who passes the home.
The idea is that members of community display rainbows in their windows so that children can go ‘rainbow spotting’ when out for their exercise with family. The colourful displays are brightening up everyone’s day!
The Facebook group has over 90,000 members and the home is delighted to be part of the community spirit.
Beauty Therapy
Our residents felt the need for some beauty therapy, especially as our hairdresser is not able to attend at the moment. George, our Deputy Manager, stepped up and offered his skills gained from his previous profession. This brought much-needed smiles and lots of banter from residents and staff, and with excellent results.
Flower Power
The flower arranging group got together to create beautiful displays for around the home. Margaret was a florist and helped us with some expert tips. Thanks to Shelia, Barbara, Rene, Lily and Sandra for your wonderful arrangements!
Pancake Day
Pancake Day is everyone’s favourite, but for Miriam and Barbara, it was hard work. They helped prepare the pancake mix for our chef, Martin. Needless to say, there was flour and egg shells everywhere!
Our residents also got a chance to flip the pancakes, a job Brenda took very seriously. Delicious pancakes and sweet fillings were enjoyed by all!
