Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Local Entertainer
Residents at Sherwood Lodge enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing as they welcomed a local entertainer into the home for some musical entertainment with popular performer, Eric Jones. Residents enjoy his regular visits as they take a step back in time with his medley of hits from the 50s through to the 70s.
Charlene Porter, General Manger, said: “Everyone had a lovely time singing their favourite songs. When they weren’t singing they were dancing. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.”
Residents Enjoy Music from the 60s
Residents, relatives and staff danced to the sounds of the 50s and 60s as they hosted an afternoon of musical delight with performer, Poppy Holiday and special guest, Dave the monkey puppet.
Poppy performed a medley of musical classics for the party-goers who sung along and tucked into delicious home-made cakes and refreshments throughout the afternoon. Shirley Leach said: 'A great time was had by all'.
Rob Frazer, activities coordinator said: “Poppy performed all sorts of music from the 50s and 60s which makes our Residents reminisce and it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and we look forward to her return”
Local Care Home Supports Local Young Footballers
The team at Sherwood Lodge Care Home in Preston recently presented local football team BAC Under 8’s with a new kit for the value of £800.00 to support the under 8s football team.
The home presented the kit to the local team on behalf of the residents at the home, who wanted to sponsor the local team using their own comfort funds, which they decided to use to support members of the local community.
The care home welcomed Gavin, the team’s Football Manager to a grand unveiling evening drinks reception and also a tour of the home.
Celebrating 10 Years
Congratulations to Victoria Gaille on 10 years of dedicated service at Sherwood Lodge.
Grand Dame Theatre
The Grand Dame Company treated us with an original and exciting theatre, Cinderella. The performance was engaging, entertaining and had lots of opportunities for the residents to participate in it. Everyone enjoyed it so much that we might put our own panto at Christmas time.
Wimbledon Celebration
On Saturday 13th July was ladies final day at Wimbledon and we honnoured the event with celebration. Out on the veranda next to the lawn our residents enjoyed Pimms and strawberries under the parasol in the sunshine and then watched the exciting tennis final on the TV.
