Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home
104th Birthday Celebration
Celebrations have been in full swing at South Grange Care Home, as one of its residents reaches her 104th birthday in style.
Elizabeth Graham (Beth) was joined by relatives, and friends as she celebrated her birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed this special birthday. The birthday girl, said: 'I never thought i would reach this special day, my life has been good and just happy to see all my friends and family today to celebrate this day with me.'
Among those relatives attending was Beths Son and Three Daughters, Carol, Jean, Francis and John, who played host for the afternoon to lots of guests. Speaking about her Mother,Jean said: “Beth is and has been a fantastic mother and friend to so many over the past hundred and four years, and it’s wonderful to be with her on this very special day to say just how proud she makes us feel.”
Linda Walker, General Manager of Barchester South Grange added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone. Beth is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, she can often be heard singing throughout the day and we look forward to hearing many more songs and tales as she enjoys her next year.”
Air Museum Montrose
We had a trip with residents to the Air Museum in Montrose recently, where they were able to see old aircraft and dress up in the old air force memorabilia. A great day was had by all!
Open Day
We hosted an open day on Saturday 21st April. It was a glorious afternoon and residents & families had a lovely time eating a variety of beautifully made cakes, and enjoying music from our Deputy Manager, Linda, and her husband, Stan.
Therapy Ponies
On 6th February 2018, we were joined by some therapy Shetland ponies from West Lothian. The visit was a great success and residents, staff and visitors thoroughly enjoyed making a fuss of our guests. The ponies were taken into lounges and bedrooms for all to see.
A Triple Celebration
Well done to Kate Lloyd, who was named as South Grange's Employee of the Month for January for always being there to support management, her constant positivity, stepping up when needed and remaining bright, bubbly, reliable and professional.
A big well done to Rose Lozada and Elma Llasus as well, who both recently celebrated their 15th year working for Barchester.
Care Home Open Day
An absolutely amazing time was had at our Las Vegas-themed Open Day. Residents, visitors, staff, families and friends all came along and enjoyed an outstanding day of fun, which included casino tables, mocktails, a buffet, a raffle and musical entertainment. Staff and residents really got into the theme of the day by dressing up and decorating the home to look like Vegas for the day.
