Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home

Halloween fun

Residents of South Grange celebrated Halloween with a scary movie, hot dogs and drinks served by their usherette Michelle. The home also held a pumpkin carving competition with the homes local nursery children who were the judging panel!

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday was a very poignant morning in South Grange with some of the residents helping to make their own poppies from felt as part of an arts and craft session.  Many of the ladies chose to wear red to commemorate Armistice Day and Residents watched the service on TV commenting how wonderful Her Majesty looked.

After watching the television coverage, a ready of the poem Flanders Fields was read leading everyone to shared stories of who in their families had served in the war. Lest we forget.

Residents continue to stay connected

Residents are overjoyed at South Grange care home in Monifieth as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting room for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run South Grange care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

'Latte' fun for Residents

Staff and Residents at South Grange held a charity coffee morning on 25th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

South Grange’s coffee morning was a big success –everyone had a lot of fun doing it!  Vicky, the homes assistant chef helped proceedings by dressing the trolley with balloons and bunting before serving the delicious treats for everyone to enjoy with a cup of tea.

The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and family and virtually catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.

Residents get a 'pizza' of the action

Residents and staff at South Grange celebrated World Vegetarian Day by making mouth-watering veggie pizza’s. Residents chose their own toppings from a selection of vegetable’s which included onions, peppers, mushrooms, spinach and many more!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their own freshly baked pizza’s just out the oven as the delicious aroma wafted around.  Whilst they were cooking there was a little fun as everyone joined in blind tasting session where the residents had to taste certain vegetables and guess what they were!
