Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Life at Southerndown Care Home
Caring Carer - Hair cuts & ups
This week Aida, one of our wonderful carers treated several of our residents; ladies and gentlemen to an in-house hairdressing / barber session. Who doesn't love being pampered!
Pop-up Christmas Pub!
Today the residents of Southerndown enjoyed a visit to our 'pop-up' XMAS pub, with Stacey and Carole as the land lady's. With a choice of nibbles, snowballs, wine and beer! It was Christmas cheer all round - with special thanks for donations from the Blue Boar pub, Chipping Norton #BlueBoarChippingNorton
Community Christmas Gifting
More Christmas cookie deliveries from Southerndown to those in the community who have 'been there' for our residents throughout 2020. We all wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Judith and friends from St Mary's Church in Chipping Norton #stmaryscnorton for their contunied support.
Happy 95th birthday ‘beautiful Joyce’
Our visitor suite became a very special place last week, used to host Joyce’s 95th birthday celebration with her son and daughter-in-law. Chef baked and decorated a gorgeous sponge cake, and they had a lovely catch up being able to see one another close up in the safety and warmth of our dedicated room.
Employee of the Month
Congratulations Aida on becoming our Employee of the Month for December 2020. Aida is a much loved carer, voted employee of the month by her colleagues at Southerndown for "her continued kindenss and support". We thank you Aida for everything you do - enjoy your £25 voucher - keep up the great work!
Visiting Goats
Who needs a naughty elf on the shelf when you have two cheeky goats roaming the grounds at Southerndown Care Home.
Our residents love to track their whereabouts and see what mischief they’re getting up to; from chewing bark to sneaking round the front to nibble at our Nativity scene, these two are adventurous to say the least.
They’re very friendly and occasionally pop up at our residents windows to say ‘good morning’ and see if there’s any spare toast!
