Activities at Southerndown Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies

Activities Co-ordinator

I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Life at Southerndown Care Home

Trip to Evesham Country Park

Southerndown visited Evesham Country Park for a very festive trip. We had a Christmas lunch and did lots of Christmas shopping. We indeed saw the Singing Christmas penguins –what a fantastic day. We really can’t wait for our next visit.

Remembrance Sunday

For our Remembrance Sunday service this year, we were very lucky to be Joined by some local RAF. We had a morning of reminiscence and remembrance, and it was so nice to meet such wonderful people.

Cotswold Friends

Cotswold Friends came to visit us at Southerndown to receive a donation of £500 on behalf of Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.

Cotswold Friends is a charity providing friendship, support and transport to older and vulnerable people in the North Cotswold community.

We spent a lovely afternoon with one of the friends, Suzie, who gave us a talk about the Cotswold Friends and all the fantastic and valuable work they do in the local community.

Open Day

For our open day, we were entertained by In 2 Cultures, where we got taught how to play various African instruments. We were also greeted by a Unicorn pony called Teddy. What a day!

Team Anna

We have joined the rest of the local community to support fundraising for team Anna. Team Anna is an important cause supporting a local girl in Chipping Norton. For our fundraising day, Bogdan our head of maintenance held a charity car wash. What a massive success we had raising money to the sum of £200!
