Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Seaside Memories
What fun we have had making our very own interactive display board of seaside holiday memories.
We started with our favourite holiday destinations, and decided what we liked best about seaside holidays, incorporating it into our board.
Our favourite part of the board is, of course, our very own Punch & Judy show. We had so much fun making this board, and it brought back so many wonderful memories.
Out & About
We decided to make the most of a wonderful sunny afternoon with a drive around the glorious Cotswolds. We made a pit stop for tea in Marsh Garden Centre, and then had a look round at all the wonderful flowers.
A Rainy Afternoon
What to do a rainy afternoon? We thought a jigsaw puzzle might be a great idea! We decided upon a 250 piece summer at the beach, and what a fantastic team effort; all finished in under 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Dancing to the Drums
Residents enjoyed a visit from In 2 Cultures, who did some fantastic African drumming. Residents were so excited to play the drums, learn some new songs and dance to the toe-tapping and hand-clapping music.
Little Visitors
Southerndown has recently enjoyed a visit from Russian students who are studying culture, etiquette and education with The Slingsby Partnership. Most of the students live in Moscow and are really enjoying their trip to the UK. We have been very happy talking with the children and learning about life in Russia. We are really looking forward to meeting the next group of students!
Dancing Queens
Southerndown recently had a visit from Ali Maxwell and pupils from her ballet dancing class. What a lovely afternoon treat; they were so graceful and elegant! We all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and can't wait to have them back.
