Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Life at Southerndown Care Home
Creative Mojo
We had a wonderful art session with Creative Mojo. Our aim of the day was to paint flowers to make into a lovely bouquet. What a relaxing way to spend a morning!
Golden Toes
Southerndown's Christmas celebrations are well and truly underway! We have had a visit from Golden Toes, who put on a wonderful performance for residents.
Christmas Tree Festival
Residents and staff have made their very own decorations for the Methodist Christmas Tree Festival. Everyone really enjoyed taking part.
Reminiscence Session
Southerndown recently enjoyed a very interesting visit from the soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, who joined us for a morning reminiscence session. Residents loved looking at and wearing memorabilia from WW1 and WW2, especially the helmets and medals.
Knitted Poppy Dress
We have all been busy knitting poppies in preparation for Remembrance Day. Residents, staff, loved ones and members of our local community have really enjoyed making them.
Feeling Floral
We have recently had a visit from the local RAF, who helped us to make some plastic poppies for our outdoor display.
We all had such a fun arts and crafts day, and having the RAF here with us made it extra special.
I think we can all agree the finished 100 poppies look amazing, and what a fitting way to mark the centenary.
