Activities at St Thomas Care Home
Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Life at St Thomas Care Home
Thank You, St Thomas
St Thomas was thrilled to receive this picture from Isabella, aged 4 years. Her mum, Lucy, explained that Isabella had been watching the news about care homes, and wanted to say thank you.
The staff and residents all appreciate the continued support and kindness shown by the community. It means a great deal
Easter Celebrations
Despite the unprecedented situation that we all fine ourselves in, it was ‘business as usual’ at St Thomas for Easter. Residents enjoyed making, and then tasting their rice crispie eater cupcakes. Due to the fortunate weather, many residents enjoyed spending time in the garden with the staff and each other.
We'll Never Walk Alone
We were thrilled to receive a certificate of support from Liverpool Football Club. Following an email to the club by one of our Nurses, who is a staunch supporter, the Club sent the certificate through. It is now proudly displayed throughout the Home for the residents and staff to see.
Mother's Day
Waitrose in Basingstoke sent a huge amount of lowers to St Thomas on Saturday to thank the staff for their commitment to the home during these uncertain times.
The picture attached is around a third of the flowers received. We received enough for every female resident and all of the staff to have flowers on Mother’s Day.
Such a lovely gesture on their behalf which was greatly appreciated by all.
Residents Received Octopus ‘Fiddlers’
Following a request by St Thomas on social media, Linda Kellon, came to the home to present the residents with 25 Octopus ‘Fiddlers’ which she had knitted.
Linda met the residents and handed out these toys, which the residents love to hold and place with. Many thanks to Linda for all the hard work she has put into these. It is much appreciated.
Standard Life in Basingstoke
St Thomas was contacted by Francesca, who works at Standard Life in Basingstoke. Francesca explained that her branch of Standard Life had worked with Dementia UK, and from this they wanted to show their appreciation of the work that the staff at St Thomas do.
We were more than happy to meet with Francesca, and she brought some lovely treats and gifts for the staff, and was shown round the Home. Many thanks from all of us for this lovely gesture.
