Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Best Dressed Christmas Tree

Over the festive period here at St Thomas Care Home we have held a community Christmas tree competition for our residents to judge the entries.

People from all over the local area have been sending us photographs of their Christmas Trees in order to be crowned Best Dressed Christmas Tree by our residents here at St Thomas.

After receiving an outstanding amount of entries in such a short period our residents had a lot of photographs to review. After much deliberation our residents and colleagues have chosen the below entry from Tracey. Congratulations Tracey, please contact StThomas.Activities@barchester.com to arrange collection of your prize!

Christmas Party

This week our in Basingstoke our residents and colleagues have recently enjoyed a five star Christmas Party! All of our residents came together in our dining room to have a really traditional festive party.

The party began with a buffet of home-made refreshments and glasses of wine to enjoy also. The residents enjoy the buffet followed by party games together and finished with live entertainment from our local performer.

Our registered manager Fatmata commented "This is exactly what the home needed, a real boost! It has been a difficult time and this has made every resident truly smile. We have achieved so much in 2021 and we look forward to continuing our growth in 2022"

Heroes for our Local Heroes!

Here at St Thomas care home in Basingstoke our general manager, Fatmata, has been out delivering festive cheer and sweet treats to our local doctors.

This small piece of community engagement is a way of saying thank you for the health services dedicated hard work to our home and the rest of their catchment area.

A Christmas Donation

Here at St Thomas we have had a recent Christmas Delivery from our friends at South Western Railway.

The kind donation from our local transport services included Christmas gifts and essential toiletries for our residents. Our residents are extremely grateful.

St Thomas look forward to continuing our relationships with the local community.
