Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Life at St Thomas Care Home

Resident Chef

George is very active in the home and when I told him we were going to make pizza’s he jumped at the chance. As you can see by the photo George is concentrating very hard on how his pizza is going to look. George wanted to make sure very thing was covered in cheese and ham. George said that he really enjoyed making the pizza and would like to do it again. He also said that he can’t wait to share it with the other residents to see how they like it. George also said that he would like to have a go at making other things.

Puppy Love

St Thomas was delighted when Frankie a career in the home asked if she could bring her dog Charlie in to see the residents. Frankie walked around with Charlie and introduced him to many of the residents and then she bumped in to Jeanette who was walking with her daughter. Frankie asked if she would like to stroke Charlie, Jeanette couldn’t say no to his cute face, Jeanette really enjoyed seeing Charlie and she stroked him and spoke to him. The smile on her face makes this photo it shows she really enjoyed seeing him.

Little Cupid

Valentine’s Day is a Very Special day and all the ladies love getting flowers. On this day Angela and her son David come to the home to spread some lover around the home. David walked around with his mum and gave a single rose to every lady in the home. Dorothy and Shelia were the first to meet cupid and get a rose. Dorothy and Shelia were over the moon about being given a rose they we happy and really appreciated the fact that David had come to the home to give them roses. Dorothy said this takes her back to when her husband used to give her roses for Valentin’s Day and now she is getting a rose from a young man. Dorothy and Shelia wouldn’t let David go until they had a photo taken with him.

Long distance love

Today was Valentine’s Day and Charlie was sent a Valentines card from his wife who now lives in Scotland. Charlie and his wife have been together many of years now and their love is still very strong. I gave Charlie his card he opened it and smiled and read the front of the card he sat and read it out loud. He then opened and read the inside of the card. Charlie was happy to get a card from his wife as he doesn’t see her that very often in person. Charlie does have weekly zoom calls with his wife and daughter. This was a very touching moment for Charlie he put the card on his table where he could see it and smile.
