Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Opera Performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.

Fun filled afternoon at Stamford Bridge Beaumont

Residents at Stamford Bridge Beaumont enjoyed a morning of keeping cool with fresh juices, melon and berries.

The afternoon was followed by entertainment with live music where residents and staff were up dancing, having a good time! And what better way to keep cool with some delicious ice creams to finish!

World Chocolate Day Celebrations

We revelled in all things sweet for World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolatey activities.

Our residents enjoyed a visit to York Chocolate Story where they indulged in some sweet treats and found out the history of Chocolate.

In the afternoon, we took part in themed quiz, tasted our delicious treats and had a discussion about all things chocolate.

A wonderful day was had by all.

Musical Mornings

We had a fun filled morning with a visit from Jess at Musical Moments  who provided plenty of great music and movement for our residents.

Everyone loved singing along to the classics and doing the actions too!

Virtual event with Dr Tim Howard

Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.

The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.
