Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Church Service

We had a great morning welcoming Reverend Simon Pritchard from Stamford Bridge Church into the home for our service. A resident from the Terrace unit, Bryan gave us a lovely reading too.

International Gin and Tonic day

We enjoyed a tipple or two for International Gin and Tonic day!

We've enjoyed Gin with a range of different tonics and nibbles that accompany the famous drink.

International Gin and Tonic day was established in 2011 to celebrate the history of this beloved cocktail as well as in honour of Mary Edith Keyburn who died at 95 with a teacup full of gin and tonic on her bedside! Her family, well aware of her affection for the drink, smuggled a cocktail into the hospital!

SIMPLY THE BEST - LOCAL CARER SCOOPS COVETED NATIONAL TITLE

Congratulations to our Janet Dickinson who has beaten all the competition to be crowned National Lifetime Achievement Award in the Barchester Care Awards 2022.

Janet’s win was announced at a special national award ceremony which took place on October 12 to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Barchester’s many exemplary staff members who work tirelessly to deliver the best care to their residents and patients every day.

Congratulations, Janet - what a fantastic achievement!

MacMillan Coffee Morning

We had a wonderful time celebrating MacMillan coffee Morning. A big thank you to everyone who came to our World's Biggest Coffee Morning and we have nearly raised £100!

A special thanks to our Catering Manager, Amy for the delicious cakes she helped make for us.

International Day of Sign Language

We had a lovely morning learning about Sign Language with our activities coordinator Carole.  We learnt the alphabet, how to sign our names and greetings too. Residents and staff really enjoyed this activity and we are so lucky to have Carole here to keep us practicing.

In Honour of Her Majesty the Queen

In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we took the time to commemorate her and pay our tributes to the Royal Family.

In loving memory of the Queen, we worked hard to create our own Memorial Area with soft lighting and photos of the Queen, which staff, residents, families and friends can visit anytime; we created a book of condolence and a memory tree with photos of the Queen. We have also spent time together remembering the Queen over the years.

For many of our residents, the Queen represented comfort, hope and peace over the past seven decades of her sovereignty, and she will be sorely missed.
