Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

,

Beach Day

Residents at Stamford Bridge Beaumont in Stamford Bridge enjoyed a day at the seaside from the comfort of their own home.

Residents and staff all got involved with the spirit of the seaside themed day. With regular trips out unable to happen during the current pandemic the activity staff wanted to ensure that residents didn’t miss out on a day at the seaside.

Residents enjoyed fish and chips from newspaper trays, beach volley ball, hook a duck, sandcastle building music and of course no trip to the seaside would be the same without an ice creams!

Friendship Day

Stamford Bridge Beaumont Residents and colleagues celebrated Friendship Week by making friendship bunting, delivering flowers and enjoying refreshing ice lollies to cool down from the warm weather. A lovely afternoon was had by all!

Water Painting

Residents have recently purchased some water paintings from Active Mind’s which have been a huge success with them appealing to a wide range of resident’s, these have been especially effective on the homes memory lane as residents show case their creative sides.

A kind donation

Our local garden centre very kindly donated us some altsoemeria’s, our resident’s enjoyed a lovely coffee morning whilst arranging these into various vases, these were then distributed around the home.’

Strawberries & Cream

Residents and the care team at Stamford Bridge Beaumont enjoyed a traditional strawberry and cream tea with some Residents indulging in a little bit of Wimbledon on the TV.

Victoria Edwards, General Manager, said: “Strawberries and cream are a tradition when watching the tennis. Who doesn’t indulge every now and then, and the tennis is only on once a year.”

Father's Day celebrations

Residents at Stamford Bridge enjoyed a special lunch in celebration of Father’s Day. Staff and residents enjoyed a day of fun-filled activities with the gentleman enjoying a glass of their favourite tipple!

This year, due to the current situation, family and friends joined in the celebrations virtually via video call. Residents weren’t phased by this however, as they have become quite tech savvy at Skype calls, FaceTime, and online events. These platforms are an invaluable way to keep people connected with loved ones and friends, as well as with the local communities, during these unprecedented times.
