Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Christmas Eve celebrations

Residents have enjoyed an array of festive activities throughout December as they counted down to Christmas and as the day approached, everyone had a wonderful Christmas Eve as Santa’s little helpers – the elves set about delivering presents throughout the home. During the day everyone was in the festive spirit as music played, merriment with dancing and chocolates too!

Residents enjoy game of dominoes

Residents enjoyed a game of dominos at Stamford Bridge as part of their popular games afternoons. A number of residents at Stamford Bridge had a great time playing a game of dominos with each other and squeezed in a quick natter and a cuppa in between games accompanied by delicious home-made mince pies.  Everyone had fun as they showed a little friendly competition each game!

Christingle

We have recently been having virtual Church services from St Nicholas Church in Dunnington. It has been great to receive these services again for our residents. We also got involved for the recent festive service by making some of our very own Christingles.

Christmas Decorations

The first week of December was all about getting our decorations up, which our residents mostly did. We now have a total of 10 Christmas trees around the home, so residents can enjoy them wherever they choose to spend their time.

Santa makes a surprise visit

Barchester’s Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home, in Stamford Bridge, got in the Christmas spirit with a visit from Santa who came to spread some festive cheer amongst the residents.

Stamford Bridge Beaumont’s residents enjoyed a special visit from Santa, he arrived on his sleigh with Christmas songs playing. The residents had a great time dancing along and listening to the music. The sleigh was arranged by the Derwent Lions who also delivered us a Ferrero Rocher advent Christmas tree earlier in the month, we are very grateful to them for having us in their thoughts.

General Manager, Linsey Leatham said: “We’ve had a year like no other so we wanted to really spoil our residents and give them an extra special treat.  We’ve all had such fun today, and it is clear that everyone really enjoyed the day.”

Christmas decorations

Barchester’s Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home, got in the Christmas spirit by dressing the Christmas trees throughout the home adding a little glitz and sparkle for everyone to enjoy.

Once the final bauble was hung residents sat back to enjoy with a cup of tea and delicious mince pies as the conservation flowed as they reminiscence about childhood Christmases.
