Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Keeping residents connected

Residents are overjoyed at Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home in Stamford Bridge, York as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

Christmas crafting

With Christmas just around the corner Residents at Stamford Bridge have been busy with their craft sessions. The residents are really getting into the festive spirit in helping to create some fabulous Christmas inspired decorations to display throughout the home.   This is one of the many activities the home hosts as part of their life enrichment programme.

Residents enjoy letter writing

Residents of Stamford Bridge were delighted when the postman delivered letters, cards and pictures to the home from a local school based in Sand Hutton as part of the homes intergenerational links to with the community.  Residents are now busy writing back to the school and look forward to receiving more!

Children in Need

Staff and residents have taken part in a variety of activities to raise money for Children in Need.

Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £950 million for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. One of the highlights is an annual telethon, held in November and televised on BBC One and BBC Two, and the charity mascot "Pudsey Bear" is as well-known as legendary host Sir Terry Wogan who hosted the telethon for 35 years.

Residents have been getting involved with children in need day by baking some shortbread Pudsey Bear biscuits.

Remembrance Sunday

Our residents enjoyed a lovely morning reminiscing on Remembrance Sunday, Barbara was proud to share her appreciation certificate for her volunteer work with the Poppy Appeal, we think she looked fabulous!. As a home we also created our very own cenotaph the mark the occasion and our friends at Primrose Hill Day Nursery kindly made us some poppies and we think they look great.
