Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Baking Is a Piece of Cake for Residents

Residents of Stamford Bridge had a wonderful time at a cookery lesson, organised by the homes Activities Coordinator and kitchen staff as they baked their entry to the annual Barchester Christmas Cake competition. Although they didn’t win, all residents had a fabulous afternoon and everyone enjoyed eating the delicious homemade cake at the home's Christmas Party.

A lot of our residents used to bake and cook every day for their families, and really enjoyed the chance to remember old skills and as they prepared their entry conversation soon turned to the different baking tips and recipes. The afternoon led to reminiscing about old times and sharing some very useful tips – with lots of laughing and happy chat.  Everyone enjoyed the result and they’ll definitely be incorporating cookery and baking into the homes regular activities schedule.

New Year’s Eve at Stamford Bridge

On New Year’s Eve, residents at Stamford Bridge celebrated in style with musical entertainment from Dark Moon along with a glass of Fizz. The afternoon was finished off with residents and staff singing Auld Lang’s Syne to celebrate the start of a New year.

Happy Birthday

On Thursday the 14th November we had a special celebration at Beaumont in Stamford Bridge, as 3 of our dedicated team were celebrating turning 60! With 180 years combined age it was only right that we marked the special occasion with a party within the home enjoyed by staff and residents.

15 Years of Service

We celebrated Ann Beckett’s 15th year at Stamford Bridge. Ann is a Housekeeping Assistant at the home. She was presented with a gold pin, shopping vouchers and flowers. Congratulations, Ann!

We raised a huge £400, many thanks to all who made it such an enjoyable morning. We received many contributions of prizes from local businesses and the generosity of those who live at and visit Beaumont
