Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

St Georges Day

Threshfield Court in Threshfield, Skipton celebrated St George’s Day on 23 April in style.

In honour of the patron saint of England, staff and residents at the home dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed a delicious festive lunch including traditional fish and chip Friday, prepared by the home’s chef.

In the afternoon, the residents had the opportunity to learn more about St George and when the day came into prominence in the 1400s, through a variety of quizzes and virtual activities.

St George's Day in England remembers St George, England's patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which is on April 23, is seen as England's national day. According to a legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess.

St George's Day used to be a national holiday, however, it is now celebrated with parades, dancing and other activities. Flags with the image of St George's cross are flown on some buildings, especially pubs, and a few people wear a red rose on their lapel. Church services on the Sunday closest to 23 April often include the hymn 'Jerusalem', written by the poet William Blake.

Easter Crafts

At Threshfield Court, we have been very busy, chatting, planning and creating our Easter bonnets. It truly is a delightful activity and it never ceases to amaze us how much fun you can have with such a simple activity.

On completion of our bonnets, we had twice the amount of fun and laughter trying our hats on, taking selfies and just enjoying posing for the camera.

Easter Celebrations

All the residents received a Cadbury’s Easter egg from Barchester. It was a lovely morning; the sun was shining and we were able to chat and engage with every single person in our home. We are never too long in the tooth for a sweet treat.

Residents were able to watch the Easter Sunday church service on the television or using our Jolly Trolley.

After almost 18 years of continuous service at Threshfield Court Care Home in Threshfield, much-loved Maintenance Expert, Noel Storey has decided to retire.

Staff and residents at the home sent Noel Storey off in style with champagne and presents to thank him for many years of dedication. Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Noel and he will be sadly missed.

During his time at Threshfield Court Care Home Noel has become an integral part of our family.  As well as carrying out his role as Head of Maintenance, he has made props and participated in many of our “Home Production Shows” for the residents.  Noel has always gone that extra mile and will help anyone.  We are going to really miss him and wish him a very long and happy retirement.  He has certainly earned it!  He has made many friends, both with the staff and residents.  He is welcome anytime to pop if for a cup of tea and a sausage butty!

The ladies enjoy a catch up

The ladies on our Kilnsey community enjoyed a catch up with a glass of their favourite tipple, some delicious biscuits as they put the world to rights with a good old fashioned chat.  It was a lovely morning and a great way to spend the time before lunch.
