Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Painting to relax

Throughout the month for some of us, it has been a time to relax and enjoy the short days whilst watching the winter weather outside and us being warm and cosy inside.

Our residents recently enjoyed Aqua Painting listening to a Bird Song Waterfall CD in the back ground.   It was a peaceful morning and really enjoyable.   It is a shame that the pictures disappear after a short time, but, it is good for the environment and we do enjoy guessing the pictures

Home enjoy virtual choir performance

Residents and staff at Threshfield Court Care Home in Threshfield enjoyed a morning of a pre recordered Festive Musical Performance.

Local Community Choir Group, Buckden Singers from Buckden, Upper Wharfedale performed a selection of festive songs in their own homes to create the Christmas experience.

Christmas decoration crafts

It is the season to be jolly, and it certainly is at Threshfield Court.  At the end of November, we started designing our own baubles, lots of colour, glue and glitter. We have used the garlands made by our residents to decorate our monthly  resident notice boards.  Every month we take time to change the photographs as it is a great reminder of all the fun things we are done that month.  Although, the glitter is everywhere

Cards from the community

At Threshfield Court we are very lucky to be supported by so many groups in the Community.  These are strange times that we currently live in, many of our links with the Community have been actively in contact with us throughout the year.  We were fortunate to have a correspondence table which has been enjoyed by a lot of our residents.

This Christmas, the 1st Mahamdale Brownies Pack have been incredibly supportive and creative with their Christmas Cards.  Our residents have  really enjoyed receiving the cards and reading them.  A small selection are currently standing proudly on one of our bookcases

Christmas Cake competition

Throughout December, Residents have been busy counting down to Christmas with their busy life enrichment programme filled with fun-filled festive activities.

We have been busy making festive decorations to display around our home and making our Christmas cakes, starting them early so we could ‘feed’ them with brandy or sherry and leaving plenty of time for them to mature before decorating and entering into Barchester’s annual Christmas cake competition.

As we made our cakes, it was lovely to hear everyone sharing their memories of Christmases past, the traditions they enjoyed and what Christmas has meant to them.

The judging of the Christmas cakes will take place on 11th December and we can’t wait to sample the finished cake! Good luck to everyone and may the best cake win!

National Elf Day

To celebrate National Elf Day, members of staff at Threshfield Court dressed up as Elves to raise awareness of the good work of the Alzheimer's Society.  The staff organized a number of activities throughout the day which included ‘Pin the pom-pom’ on the Elf and a colouring Elf Competition.

During these short days a little bit of sparkle, good cheer and bells goes a very long way on putting a smile on everyone's faces.  The colouring competition was open to both staff and residents and Heather was declared winner by resident Alec, who judged all the entrants.  Everyone had a fun-filled day!
