Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Residents enjoy inaugural knit and natter group
On Monday 19th June 2023 Threshfield Court held our first Knit and Natter Group. We were joined by some of the local ladies from the community. Terry Whittam, our Administrator ran the session. She taught us how to patchwork. It was a lovely morning, all our residents got to know the local ladies. We enjoy rea and cakes afterwards.
RAF Hendon
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.
Virtual event with Art Historian
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
Coronation virtual talk
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
Dream comes true
Our residents from farming backgrounds had expressed a wish to visit a local farm in springtime so staff at the home made their wishes a reality. Angela Cox has lived at Threshfield court for nearly 2 years and Jean Herd has lived at Threshfield for 5 years there and are both beloved by staff and residents alike.
Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making their dream come true. With the help of the farm owners, Dan White and Emma Boocock they made a very memorable day for the residents, meeting all the lovely farm animals and then finished off with tea and cake in the boot room at the farm house.
Residents dream comes true
Resident, Leonard Furniss at Threshfield Court has always been a local HGV driver. Here at Threshfield Court we deliver person centred care by using our ‘Getting to Know Me’ books. These are created by our residents and families and are a picture of our residents’ lives and loves, so when we learnt of his driving experience and desire to get up and close to a vehicle once again, staff at the home made Leonard’s wish come true.
Leonard has lived at Threshfield Court for just over a year and is loved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making his dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to him.
