Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Starlings with Royal Parks

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Community Spirit in Grassington

Grassington Hub is a brilliant network for Community Engagement.

Threshfield Court residents use the Library service at the Hub, and a few have audio books sent out from the hub every 2 weeks. We have a Gentleman resident who is registered blind. I thought I would be a fab idea to get the gentleman signed up for using the audio books.

We had a good chat and came to the conclusion that Mystery books would be a good listening tool for the chap to start with. The Hub straight away sourced these audio books for him and he now gets new audios every 2 weeks.

Our chef very kindly made some cookies for us to take up to the Hub as a thank you for letting the Home be a part of the community and for using the library service.

National Elf Day

Staff at Threshfield Court Care Home in Threshfield swapped their uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day (Friday December 2) in an effort to raise awareness to help people living with dementia.

Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards finding a cure for dementia. From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits, anything goes – there’s snow better way to raise money to help beat dementia.

On the day, residents and staff at Threshfield were able to enjoy elf-themed games including Stick the bell on the Elf shoe, Christmas quiz, elf-bingo, Decorating their own Elf Hat and been given an elf name (which is your month of birthday and date your birthday is) as the team at the home donned their elfish apparel.

A performance by the Grassington Hand Bellringers

Threshfield Court had the pleasure of Grassington Hand Bellringers. They gave the Residents a wonderful hour-long performance of Christmas Carols. It was very enjoyable to see the happiness in the residents faces and listening to them singing along. We all enjoyed hot refreshments of tea and coffee, and mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.

Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
