Activities at Washington Grange Care Home
Our group and individual activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for. We try to organise a mix of activities and events that reflect the interests and capabilities of residents for anyone and everyone to participate in. Our evenings of afternoon entertainment is enjoyed by residents and their families, who are all encouraged to sing along and dance. We try to involve our local community; members of the clergy often visit to hold lovely afternoon church services for residents. It is essential that our team are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those we support through person-centred activities, and that everyone has a fun and active time here at Washington Grange.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Washington Grange Care Home
Live Music Performance
Residents and guests at Washington Grange enjoyed a afternoon of grins with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local vocalist, Alfie Dobson performed a selection of classic hits that had everyone singing along too.
Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as Alfie performed his finale song, cracklin rose by legendary american singer songwriter, Neil Diamond. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.
General Manager, Paula Joicey said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Washington Grange as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”
Meet Our Volunteers
They visit on a weekly basis and really make a difference to residents' lives. They always have a smile on their faces and get involved with all the activities.
Intergenerational Gardening
We were joined by some local school children recently, who came to Washington Grange to plant seeds with residents. It was a fun bonding experience for everyone involved.
What have we been up to?
We've been keeping ourselves very busy here at Washington Grange!
We've been on trips out to the local café, painted and threaded some pasta, planted some seeds to grow our own flowers, baked a pie and brownies for supper, played bingo and musical instruments – and much more!
A Perfect from Healthwatch
Washington Grange recently passed a recent Healthwatch Sunderland inspection with flying colours after we were praised for a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.
Healthwatch England is the national consumer champion in health and social care. It was set up by the government to ensure that people’s views around health and social care services are listened to and fed back to service providers and commissioners with a view to improving services.
Well done to everyone who has made this possible.
