Activities at Waterside Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Waterside Court Care Home
Wallingford Town Council Gets Dementia Friendly
A live stream session took place on the 16th January, where some Councillors received information on what it's like to live with dementia. Home Services Advisor, Victoria Nemar, a Dementia Champion, ran the information session to teach the group about the small ways we all can help those living with dementia.
Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. The Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative in the UK that aims to change people’s perceptions and understanding of dementia.
Victoria said, “It was fantastic to see the Councillors engaging so readily on such an important matter. Waterside Court are keen to make Wallingford a Dementia Friendly Community and to have the Council’s support will really help us achieve this goal. We’re really looking forward to making more Dementia Friend’s in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening, and the more understanding we have the better, especially given the current climate. Our team here at Waterside Court are always available to provide support and advice about care to anyone who needs it.”
If you belong to an organisation who would like to become Dementia Friends, get in touch with us and we'd be more than happy to help.
Working with Boots Pharmacy
Roxana Moldovan, General Manager at Waterside Court, met with representatives from Boots Pharmacy over Zoom to discuss how we will work together going forwards.
We are pleased to announce that Waterside Court and Boots Pharmacy have agreed a partnership, which includes providing monthly medication and ongoing governance support around medication management. This milestone will enable us to ensure that our residents will all receive the care and support they require.
Boots have a proven track record of delivering an efficient and effective process, which enhances safety in our home. We look forward to working closely with Boots Pharmacy going forwards!
Waterside Court reaches practical completion
We are delighted to announce that Waterside Court has reached practical completion!
It has taken just over two years to build this spectacular home and we are pleased to say that it is on track to be completed by mid-March this year.
It took 88,000 bricks to complete this three floor home and it has been built with space, luxury and comfort in mind throughout. “Light and bright” is the theme all the way through, with 107 windows looking out from luxury en-suite bedrooms, five star dining rooms and comfortable lounges. The ground floor entrance further embraces this theme with a stylish café and an atrium that looks onto the main, south-facing garden area.
Waterside Court offers multiple garden-view and sun-facing bedrooms, all of which come furnished and with modern en-suites. The middle floor boasts a trendy cinema room and a spacious activity café, where life enrichment activities can take place. The top floor is also equipped with a large beauty salon and a gym, where residents can keep fit, active and healthy.
Our interior design team will be fully fitting out our luxurious home in coming weeks, so we look forward to being able to offer show rounds of the whole home in the very near future!
Later Life Planning
Victoria Nemar, HSA for Waterside Court care home, has been working closely with Nick Kidby, our local Symponia member. Symponia members provide dedicated independent financial advice on all aspects of care fees planning, especially for those people already residing in a care home, or considering such a move in the future.
Nick is on hand to discuss how paying care fees for life can be a worry and how you can protect capital, whilst ensuring financial commitments regarding long term care, can always be met.
Nick is available for 1-2-1 zooms to discuss any financial queries you may have. Please see contact details below should you wish to contact Nick directly:

Competition Winners!
Last month, 6 local primary schools took part in Waterside Court’s Christmas Art Competition and we were delighted to have received so many entries! Residents had lots of fun looking through them and after careful thought, they have chosen the winners!
A huge thank you and well done to all who entered. Intergenerational links between schools and care homes have incredible benefits to both residents and children. With our home opening in March this year, we are looking forward to working with these schools in the very near future!
Supporting the community with Cholsey Volunteers
Waterside Court had the pleasure of working with Cholsey Volunteers, who were set up to help the elderly, vulnerable and those in need during these unprecedented times.
Our Home Services Advisor enjoyed a morning out dropping off food parcels to local residents and having door-step chats to check they were OK. The recognition of this year’s toll on the elderly and vulnerable is something Waterside Court and Cholsey Volunteers share, so both are eager to work together in the New Year to enhance the lives of others and support people in the local community.
Cholsey Volunteers offer a variety of support services to the community including dropping off food parcels, doing prescription runs, shopping and phone support. The initiative is coordinated by Cholsey Day Centre, COPA, Cholsey’s Older Person’s Support Worker, Cholsey Parish Council and St Mary’s Church.
With such a fantastic array of volunteers and local groups involved, we look forward to support their valuable work in 2021!
