Activities at Westlake House Care Home
Residents enjoy playing hoopla and bocce bowls, which combine exercise with the thrill of competitive sport. We invite entertainers and musicians to visit the home on a regular basis and residents very much enjoy watching them perform.
We also have our pet therapy dog, Marley, visit the home on a fortnightly basis, and residents love petting him. They also enjoy health and fitness days, where they get the opportunity to participate in armchair exercises and target games.
We always celebrate National Volunteer Week, which we use as a chance to say thank you for the wonderful work that our volunteers do that further enhances the quality of life for those who live at Westlake.
As well as continuing with our favourite activities, such as arts & crafts, bingo, knit & natter, Scrabble, board games, bridge, quizzes, pampers & manicures, reminiscence sessions and musical memories, we always like to launch new activities for residents, which give them the opportunity to socialise with their friends and families. These could be our own vegetable patches, flower arranging sessions, a book club or anything else that our imaginations conjure up.
Rosie Duhig
I joined the Barchester family in November 2024 and have instantly felt welcome and supported. As an activity coordinator, I am passionate about getting to know our residents and delivering person-centred care and activities to all residents, an approach supported by a holistic, whole-home view.
I have been in a Care support role since 2019 and an Activity Coordinator since 2020. I love that my role brings laughter and joy to others. It so wonderful seeing people engaging in an activity they enjoy and interacting with each other. I am very passionate about Intergenerational projects, as something magical happens when old and young get together.

Life at Westlake House Care Home
Our summer garden party was a huge hit!
Thank you to everyone who attended our summer fete! We hope that you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did. We had a wonderful time and raised over £200 for charity.
Thank you very much to our stall holders and staff, who helped us make the day so special. Robbie, the magician and ballon artist and DJ Megamix kept us entertained. There was lots to see and do and of course delicious food prepared by our amazing chefs.
Look out for details of our coming BBQ!
A swell party, indeed!
A swell party, indeed! Tickled Pink Productions performed their summer show which was based on an old favourite "Calamity Jane" at Westlake House this week. Our residents enjoyed this interactive show filled with sing-a-longs, dancing, and positivity. The weather may have been glum, and a bit like the windy city outside but the atmosphere in the lounge was quite the opposite.
We look forward to Tickled Pink’s next performance in the autumn. Thank you!
A day at the races.
Westlake House recreated their very own ladies day the races. We donned our fascinators and dressed the part and watched the races live to cheer on our favourites to win. Our chefs laid on a lovely spread for us all and we enjoyed a glass or two of fizz. A lovely day at the races was had by all.
All creatures great and small.
We are great animal lovers here at Westlake house . So were super excited when we had an array of furry friends from Kelly's Donkeys spend time with us. Our home and garden was full of donkey's, bunnies and lambs. It was a wonderful day full of fun smiles and plenty of cuddles. We are already looking forward to their next visit.
Gardening club at Westlake House
One of the distinctive features you will see when you visit our home is our beautiful gardens. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful gardens and a stream at the back of our home which is refreshing to see for our visitors and the people we care for.
Our gardening club have worked hard to plant some beautiful flowers in the gardens. Some of the flowers have already started to bloom and the feeling of accomplishment is priceless. Our residents enjoy flower arrangement activities as this keeps them occupied while enriching their lives.
