Activities at Westwood House Care Home
As Activity Coordinator at Westwood House I am fully committed to organising activities for all of the residents. This includes activities within the home such as reminiscence sessions, and planning events such as the Summer and Christmas parties. We have also provided some very successful trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and have monthly visits from entertainers and musicians. We are always encouraging local schools to get involved and have recently managed to get a local charity 'Spare tyre' working with us very successfully.
It is important to me that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Liz Wickers
As a Lifestyle Coordinator at a Barchester care home, I help to create a stimulating environment that enables us to deliver exceptional all-around care and support for our residents. Our ethos is all about celebrating life, so I devise imaginative, fun and motivational events and activities that suit every interest and ability.
I ensure that I spend time getting to know all of our residents and their families, to ensure a personalised and tailored activities programme, focusing on maximizing everyone’s well-being, independence and social engagement.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Westwood House Care Home

Owl Adventures!
As part of National Bird Day, the residents at Westwood House enjoyed a visit from some owls and a hawk.
We had the chance to stroke and hold these magnificent creatures and watch them in flight.
Celebrating and understanding more about our wonderful wildlife made for a great afternoon.

EnabLE!
Residents, staff and relatives joined us in celebrating all the work that Team Westwood have put in to ensure a smooth transition, and that we are ready for our new digital reports and document system.
From today, you will see the staff with handsets that they will use to report and document all the health, care and support given to our residents. Please feel free to ask us if you would like more information about ‘Enable’ and how this will continue to support us in delivering the best care for your loved one.

Magic Table Fun!
At Westwood house, we are so fortunate to have a Magic Table which brings so much joy to the residents.
The Magic table is a wonderful sensory resource that enables our residents, particularly those living with Dementia, to play games alone or with a group.
Today we discovered many different varieties of flowers and had a quick game of tennis.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Team Westwood welcomed members of our local community to join us for our Christmas Party.
So much fun, laughter and best of all, new friends made!
It is so important to us to ensure our elderly or vulnerable members of the community are cared for and we absolutely love having them join us for events.

Afternoon Tea at Dulwich College
The residents and staff were invited to a tea party at Dulwich College.
We all had a wonderful afternoon being entertained by the students and staff, and the choir singing Christmas Carols was an absolute joy.
Many thanks for such a wonderful time to all the staff, students and volunteers.

Abba Mania comes to Westwood House
What an absolutely fabulous afternoon here at Westwood House, spending an afternoon being entertained by the ABBA tribute artists, Malindi and Daniel.
Glitter balls and sequinned hats were the order of the day.
At Westwood House we welcome and encourage the local community to join us for all activities and events, so it was wonderful to be joined by members of the local community Dementia Café, who have now become firm friends.
FABULOUS!
