Activities at Westwood House Care Home
As Activity Coordinator at Westwood House I am fully committed to organising activities for all of the residents. This includes activities within the home such as reminiscence sessions, and planning events such as the Summer and Christmas parties. We have also provided some very successful trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and have monthly visits from entertainers and musicians. We are always encouraging local schools to get involved and have recently managed to get a local charity 'Spare tyre' working with us very successfully.
It is important to me that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Liz Wickers
My name is Liz and I am the lifestyle coordinator at Westwood House. I have always lived and worked in Southwark and Lambeth boroughs. I spent 25 years within the education sector before deciding to try new roles. As well as teaching I have also had the privilege of being a personal carer in Dementia. I am so happy that I have been welcomed into the Westwood House family where I can continue to grow and develop.
I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of them. I am thrilled to be supporting the team in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents.
I look forward to meeting you all!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Westwood House Care Home

Abba Mania comes to Westwood House
What an absolutely fabulous afternoon here at Westwood House, spending an afternoon being entertained by the ABBA tribute artists, Malindi and Daniel.
Glitter balls and sequinned hats were the order of the day.
At Westwood House we welcome and encourage the local community to join us for all activities and events, so it was wonderful to be joined by members of the local community Dementia Café, who have now become firm friends.
FABULOUS!

How Wonderful they are!
The Strummers are a local group of entertainers, singers and musicians, who volunteer in the local community, ensuring our residents have a fabulous time.
A whole range of songs, from sea shanties to cockney medleys, got us all singing along.
Again! How wonderful they really are.

Sensational Sparklers!
Wonderful evening of sizzling sausages, banging burgers and sensational sparklers. Being kids again and writing our names in the air!
Many of our families and friends joined us and the staff had a sparkly time too.
We love a celebration here at Westwood House, any excuse for a get together and making more wonderful memories.

Westwood House Yoga
We absolutely love our yoga sessions here at Westwood House. Andrea is teaching us the importance of correct breathing and moving all through the form of gentle chair exercise.
We work hard on strength exercise in order to improve our mobility.
We also have a giggle together and as Andrea says "Exercise should be fun!"

When the Weird and Wonderful Creatures Come to Play!
Many thanks to Zoolab who brought a whole array of creatures to visit us at Westwood House.
Our residents and the staff are always amazed, if a little wary of these fantastic beasts.
We would never normally get the chance to see such beautiful creatures, so learning all about them and seeing them so close up is a real privilege.

Westwood House Welcomes Entelechy Productions
Today we welcomed Entelechy Productions who came and put on a performance around life in a care home. The group visit many care homes bringing joy and laughter and entertaining us all with their singing and comedy. We can’t wait for their next visit.
Thanks so much to Leo, Lauren, Ben and Ali for getting us laughing along.
