Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

BBQ Weather!

Every day is different at White Lodge and today was no exception!   A group of residents bought colour to our front flower bed planting a selection of flowers, while others enjoyed a stroll in the grounds taking in the clear blue sky.  After working up an appetite our chef Joel cooked the perfect lunch for a summer’s day, a barbeque. We all would like to thank Joel for such a delicious lunch with homemade coleslaw, salads along with burgers and sausages with accompaniments, he really did need a sit down after cooking on such a hot day!

Jubilee Lake Trip

We took a mini bus trip out of Barchester White Lodge and visited beautiful Jubilee Lake for a nature walk. We are very fortunate to have such lovely places to explore so close to White Lodge.

Please enjoy some photos of our mini adventure! It's great to be able to take our residents on trips again and they look forward to many more trips this summer.

Celebrating Age Outdoor Concert

What a fabulous week! How lucky were we when Bob and Peter came to visit us at Barchester White Lodge and sang some lovely melodies. Their singing voices were wonderful and our residents really love musical events. Our huge thanks and gratitude to Celebrating Age Wiltshire Outdoor Concerts who arranged this event as part of their 'doorstep concert' programme.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance which brought back many happy memories as they enjoyed singing and dancing.  Please come and visit us again Bob and Peter!

I'm in the Mood for Dancing!

Our residents were treated to a wonderful outdoor concert this week, performed by Jessie Fay. She sang beautifully and our happy residents sang along, danced away and even shed a couple of tears when some old time favourites reminded them of happier days past.

Thank you Jessie for a fabulous performance, we all loved hearing your songs.  With homes being able to welcome performers again we look forward to seeing and hearing Jessie again soon.

Thanking White Lodge Carers

It is Carers Week and Barchester's White Lodge wanted to treat their fabulous carers with a surprise. Our chefs made this wonderful cake and prepared a buffet lunch for the team to enjoy. Jeanie, Resident Ambassador spoke on behalf of the residents paying tribute to all the staff for their dedication and hard work. Jeanie then went on to present each member of the team with chocolates and a thank you card. We cannot thank our carers enough for all they do.

Al Fresco Dining

With all the beautiful sunshine we've enjoyed this week, we thought we would give our lovely residents a nice surprise. So at Barchester White Lodge, we created an outdoor restaurant so they could enjoy an al- fresco luncheon.

As we moved all the dining furniture outside, one resident caught us in the act, however she was keen to join in and help lay the tables. It was a big success and everyone agreed it was a welcome change from eating indoors. They said it was something they'd like to do more often, so watch this space!
