Activities at Wilsmere House Care Home

Most days, you will find our Activities Coordinators doing a range of different activities with residents, whether that be in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. It is important that our activities team are passionate about the social events that we provide, and are dedicated to delivering an activities programme that reflect the interests and capabilities of those we support, so that life at Wilsmere House is full of fun.

Beach Day!

Oh we do love to be beside the seaside!

Here at Wilsmere, we weren't able to get to the beach today so we brought the beach to us!

Our residents enjoyed beach games, played with the sand and listened to sounds of the sea and what better way to end the day than with some good old seaside chips.

Big thanks to our Activities team for a lovely day, our residents had lots of fun!

Pet therapy

A huge thank you as always to Performing Pets who bought along Scooby the pony, much to the delight of our residents. We also had budgies and our residents really enjoyed holding them.

Animal therapy has been shown to improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of others, stimulating memories and encouraging social interaction.

Our residents always enjoy their monthly visits and we are already looking forward to the next one!

Sensory Trolley

Here at Wilsmere, we have a sensory trolley which is a portable cart that contains sensory equipment to create a multi-sensory environment for our residents, which they love.

Residents can enjoy smells and sounds of the garden, as well as aromatherapy and sounds of the sea.

The residents have soothing hand massages and have their nails painted, along with many other relaxing activities.

They love being pampered, and who wouldn't, they deserve it!

Stanmore Golf club

Our residents had a lovely day out on our minibus. We all spent an afternoon drinking tea and coffee and were joined by their family members.

Later on, the residents and their family members visited Stanmore Golf Club, which they love!

Visiting the club brings back lovely memories of their younger days when they used to be club members and play golf regularly.

Such a great day!

Cultural Day

Continuing our Cultural day celebrations.

Yesterday we had Romanian day, our General Manager, Lili proudly told us a few facts about the country and its culture. We learned that Romania is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe. It borders Ukraine to the north and east, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, Bulgaria to the south, Moldova to the east, and the Black Sea to the southeast.

Lili told us about traditional Romanian cuisine which is a diverse blend of different dishes from several traditions with which it has come into contact, but it also maintains its own character. Most famous dish is Sarmale-stuffed sour cabbage or grape leaves with ground meat with rice, onions, herbs. It is boiled for a few hours traditionally in ceramic pots. We also enjoyed Traditional Romanian music and dances.
