Activities at Wilsmere House Care Home

Most days, you will find our Activities Coordinators doing a range of different activities with residents, whether that be in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. It is important that our activities team are passionate about the social events that we provide, and are dedicated to delivering an activities programme that reflect the interests and capabilities of those we support, so that life at Wilsmere House is full of fun.

Flower arranging

Our Flower arranging sessions as greatly enjoyed by our residents and they always look forward to the next session. It gives them the opportunity to show their creative side. Even though we had the same flowers all vases had different creations.

Their arrangements are now proudly displayed throughout the home and in their rooms.

Summer BBQ

We had a lovely time on Saturday for our Summer BBQ. We were so happy that the weather held up and we could enjoy the day to its fullest. Residents, family members and Staff enjoyed delicious food prepared by our Chef Jibin and entertainment from Lisa Lee. Activities team had an idea of adding photo props and the sunglasses were a hit! We loved seeing the smiles on our Residents and family members making memories together.

Thank you to all family members who were able to join us looking forward to our next event.

Resident’s Dream Come True

Our Resident Ambassador, John is a huge cricket fan and has always wanted to see a Test Match in real life, so staff at our home made his wish a reality.

Staff have been aware of John’s love for cricket since he became a resident and have been planning an event for a while. When we found out about England player James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson’s last ever test match we knew this would be the perfect occasion.

In response to this wonderful surprise, John said: Today was a very special experience. I haven’t been to Lord’s for probably 20 years, it didn’t seem to change very much quite frankly on the inside and Nirav was very very helpful, very considerate. Bought me two pints of beer that’s why I am saying nice things about him (laughs). We stayed for the bigger part of the game and thank you very much to all and everybody who made it possible. It really was a special day.

Minibus Outing

Our residents had an amazing time travelling in our minibus to the local shop, where they did their shopping. Having the minibus gives our residents the opportunity to go out in the community and enjoy. We have regular outings to the Local shops and Garden centres.

They were able to enjoy a day of some well-deserved retail therapy.

We had a fantastic time.

D-Day

Today we honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those involved in the D-Day landings. Our care home held a special commemoration event to remember this pivotal moment in history.

Residents shared their memories and stories, and we prepared a presentation that brought the events of 6th June 1944 to life.

We also created a tribute display featuring photos, articles, and memorabilia to pay our respects to the heroes of D-Day.

Race Night

All the thrills of a day at the races...at home! We spent an afternoon enjoying picking a horse, placing a bet and watching the race. It was a great way to spend our afternoon. We also enjoyed a cold beer and comparing our winnings. This is the 1st of many race days to come.
