Activities at Woodland View Care Home

Activities at Woodland View

Woodland View is passionately committed to providing residents with a varied choice of entertainment, social, health and well being, craft and relaxation based activities.

Activities will all be meaningful and based on the likes of residents and will continue to evolve depending on our residents. The activities provided will also include involvement from other local community based organisations and are open to all residents, family and friends of residents. Our activities will be facilitated by staff from all departments as well as invited guests. Families are also enthusiastically encouraged to play a part in activities when possible.

There will always be at least one person at every activity who has been DBS checked to ensure the safeguarding of our residents. The dignity of our residents and our respect for them is at the centre of everything we do, each and every day.

We are always reviewing and changing our schedule of activities to be a centre of excellence and actively invite feedback and suggestions for new and meaningful activities and ideas.

Petra Hardman

Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Petra and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Woodland View. I love seeing the difference that activities can make to each individual, and finding out what interests they have and ensure I incorporate that into our activities here.

I love music and drama coming from a musical background as a singer all over the country, music is important to me and I feel it makes such a difference to everyone, it evokes memories, and creates happiness. I also love to boost residents self esteem by creating pampering sessions and having one to one time to relax and reminisce.

Harwich Sing

Clare’s Interactive Singing is one of our most popular activities here at Woodland View. Residents were thrilled to able to attend a concert by Clare’s choir, Harwich Sing, at St Nicholas’ Church in Harwich.

An afternoon ride to the coast, a concert and then supper made for a perfect day out.

Baking Fun

Baking Fun

It is always lovely to share an afternoon baking with residents, especially when traditional recipes are prepared.

Day Trip

Day Trip

Woodland View residents are enjoying the lovely hot spell. They've been enjoying ice cream in the High Woods Country Park, which we are privileged to have adjacent to our home.

Claire's Interactive Singing

Claire's Interactive Singing

Claire always puts on a good show at Woodland View. Residents sing and often dance to many of their favourite songs, ranging from the '40s to more modern-day numbers. Resident, Rosemary, has become a big fan; when ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' plays, she takes centre stage, both singing and dancing!

Cardmaking

Residents at Woodland View enjoy craft sessions. Card making is a firm favourite and the recent 'cat and dog' theme proved very popular. It is always nice to send a card that you have made yourself and pride is taken in the end result.

Sunflower Growing Competition

We are hosting a sunflower growing competition. Residents have been nurturing tiny seedlings in an effort to win.

Unfortunately, two plants saw their demise after just a few days, but& were swiftly replaced with two others.

Residents have been asking what constitutes a winning plant, and it was decided that they would be judged based on the following criteria: tallest sunflower, biggest head, smallest plant, prettiest plant, ugliest plant and the best-named plant.

Judging will take place on 30th August. Good luck to all our entrants!
