Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Valentine's Messages of Love

We had a very productive Valentine’s Day from listening to some lovely music, going through an activity book, Valentine's word searches and being creative making sun catcher hearts with the emphasis on being grateful with kind and positive words.

We have used these sun catchers on our message tree to remind and thank everyone about being kind, stopping to listen, to continue being a good friend and support, being patient and that we are all special! We really enjoyed making the day not just about love in romance, but our bonds and special friendships we make throughout our lives.

The day is about celebrating all the good relationships we share with others and the importance this has on enjoying a more fulfilled life.

National Pizza Day

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of making their own pizzas with a variety of different options and there were some delicious looking pizzas coming out the oven. We learnt what everyone’s favourite toppings are and we discussed the Top 10 Toppings in the UK currently and some of them were surprising!

We hope you enjoyed National Pizza Day with your own delicious creations.

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Residents enjoyed celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year and about the Year of the Tiger. We discussed the zodiac calendar, created dragons and lanterns and used them for decorations.

We also travelled to and explored China through virtual tours, the information we gathered helped us learn about their culture, climate, top 10 places to visit/see, traditional food and the amazing Great Wall of China, which is one of the seven wonders of the world.

International Flower Day

Lots of residents at the home have participated in creating brilliant artwork for International Flower Day. We had some residents using creative skills to make paper flowers and others using instructions to colour in order to support their mindfulness. We have a beautiful display showcasing our residents' creativity.

Scrapbooks of Memories

Residents have started a new project where they will be creating their own personalised scrapbook of memories through 2021 since opening after lockdown. This is an on-going project and gives the residents the opportunity to put pictures together to help them remember what fun, interactive and social sessions they have enjoyed.

There are many more sessions required to create and fill their scrapbooks but when they are ready, the residents will be able to share with family and friends.

Happy New Year

Residents enjoyed New Year's Eve while looking at some of the traditions celebrated around the world and watching the live firework displays and sharing a magnum of Champagne.

Our residents reviewed the last year acknowledging some of the real positives for 2021 and made some new year resolutions, wanting to see and share more special moments with family and friends. We welcome 2022 and hope for a great year all round for all our residents, volunteers, staff, family and friends.
