Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Easter Bonnets

Easter Bonnets

We have been getting ready for Easter by making our own Easter Bonnets! Our Rowan Ladies pulled out all the stops with the decorations!

Macclesfield Football Team

Macclesfield Football Team

We have been having lots of fun with the wonderful youth team from Macclesfield FC, who have been coming in to do hand and eye coordination games. Here we see them pictured with a resident who has been going to the matches since she was 2 years old and still a fan, she was thrilled to meet the boys and will be getting a signed programme from the whole team!

'Men in Sheds Group'

'Men in Sheds Group'

We love 'Men In Sheds Group' in Macclesfield, which is in association with Age Uk. The group allows retired men to go and work on wood projects and enjoy the company of other men in a workshop environment. Here, we see Jack one of the residents working with one of the volunteers to make a planter wheel barrow which we will be weathering and planting a herb garden in over the next week.

Employee of the Month - February

Employee of the Month - February

Phil Heywood is a part of our Maintenance Team and on 09/02/2016 at 21:00 the electrical supply in our area went down. As usual we procured our generator and hoped for the best. Phil stayed at the home all night tending a very temperamental generator to ensure that the residents and staff had power through the night and were safe. He continued to tend lovingly to the generator until 09:00 the next morning when he went home for a well deserved rest! This showed Phil’s dedication to the home with all it quarks to keep all safe & secure.

Macclesfield Football Team

Macclesfield Football Team

We now have Macclesfield football team coming in regularly to play fun hand eye coordination games with the residents here at Adlington Manor! The boys really bring out the residents competitive side and all get involved in having a good laugh! We look forward to seeing more of them in the coming months!

Nesting Boxes

Nesting Boxes

Some of the residents made Nesting Boxes at our Thursday group of Men in Sheds, Macclesfield! Here we see the boxes being weathered ready to be put up in our grounds. We have also purchased a wireless bird nesting camera to go inside the box, were hoping in the coming weeks we will see a family of birds move in and we can watch the goings on inside the nest from the comfort of our armchairs! Very exciting!
