Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A Day At The Farm

We took a lovely drive out into the country to visit Easton Park Farm where our residents enjoyed feeding the animals enjoying a picnic and watching children having so much fun. There was so much to see looking at a Victorian Dairy and Blacksmith was all part of our day out and was enjoyed by all.

Marjorie said "This took me back to when I had my goats I have thoroughly enjoyed the day"

Margaret said "The day was so much fun with so much going on"

Jeffery said " I have had a wonderful day"

John said "The day was lovely I have thoroughly enjoyed myself"

Dagmar " Lovely day I love seeing the children enjoying themselves"

Care Awards Making Us Proud

Divisional winners of Barchester Care Awards Luminata Marasolu nominated Carer of the Year and Mike and Julie Shields nominated Volunteer of the Year.

Making us all proud at Alice Grange.

We look forward to the rest of the team and our residents being able to watch the finals in October where we will be fixed to our screen and ready to party.

Out and about Ipswich Transport Museum

Visiting Ipswich Transport Museum was so interesting for our residents who looked back at many vehicles of all shapes and sizes from bikes to trolley buses and anything in between. Bringing back so many memories of travel in so many ways.

Alice Grange went wild with rain, sunshine and everything else that came with the weather

Alice Grange went wild celebrating as three of our staff members retired all clocking up over 30 years between them.

We wish them all the best and we partied in style.

Entertainers Jax&Co and his Father joined us as did Josh Lee. Philippine and Indian dance routines put on by staff.

Residents, their family and friends, and staff all joined in on the fun.

Pudding Club Invitation

We were invited to Woodland View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare to sample some delicious puddings at their monthly pudding club.

It was so lovely to see our residents socialising with their residents, especially when resident ambassadors from both homes initiated a conversation.

We look forward to them joining us at one of our Pudding Clubs soon.

Pudding Club

Our monthly Pudding Club is much more than an opportunity to eat delicious cakes, tarts, brulees, roulades, crumbles, jellies and trifles. It is a celebration of the decades of cooking experience our residents have.

Each month our Chef recreates some of our resident's favourite desserts, often favourites that have fallen out of fashion or that are no longer produced in the same way. Our residents supply Chef with recipes, tips and processes that they have perfected over many years of baking for their families.

By the time other staff and family members also start bringing their own creations along as well, we often end up with a veritable pudding-feast for all to enjoy - which means we see a lot families (especially grandchildren) visiting at this time each month!

Ensuring that we host events that relatives and friends can join is very important to us here at Alice Grange.
