Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

We celebrated International Youth Day virtually with English National Ballet’s youth dance company, ENBYouthCo and their Creative Director, Richard Bermange.

We had the opportunity to watch A Comedy in Long-shot, participate in a chair-based creative dance workshop and observe an open rehearsal where Richard and the young dancers created a performance inspired by our childhood memories.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

The magic of music

Residents hear at Arbour Court love the sound of music and we host regular music and dancing sessions, this popular activities see’s everyone singing along to their favourite tunes, dancing, or simply toe-tapping along and this simple activity always brightens up everyone’s day, keeping our residents active as they share they memories of the dance halls.

National Allotment Week

Residents have visited the home’s local allotments as part of National Allotment week. We are working with them to have a regular place to go and do some planting at the request of many of our green fingered residents.

We have been planting and growing our own vegetable’s here at Arbour Court but many resident would like to engage with our  local community and we find a spot that they can sit back, relax, enjoy the scenery and have a picnic, tea and biscuits whilst there.  The homes gardening club is a popular group activity and is a firm fixture on the homes life enrichment programme.

International Beer Day

We had a fun-filled day as we raised a glass and tasted top ales in recognition of International Beer Day.

Our residents enjoyed a mini beer festival in the garden and got involved in a variety of interesting activities.

Some of our residents spent time learning about craft brewing and the history of beer, others preferred to join the beer tasting session in the garden and to try beers from all around the world.

It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.
