Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Our residents put on a lovely performance for fellow residents and family members. Our residents practised for 14 weeks and came to the dram group sessions every week without fail. We have had so much fun and laughter. We all sang we all live in a PINK submarine, Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, singing in the rain and loads more. Residents and family members all enjoyed the show. Feedback from residents and family members that came along to watch said it was amazing. Big shout out to Mary Macfarlane one of our activity girls for writing the script and holding the drama group weekly.

Margaret went to visit Kings Park Nursery as this was her special wish. Margaret was a former teacher. So Diane worked alongside the nursery staff to make this happen. All the kids followed us around the nursery. The children sang twinkle twinkle little star, twinkle twinkle chocolate box and many more. One little girl showed us her dance that she had also performed at the Kings Parks got talent show. Margaret enjoyed her visit so much.

Philip from the Full Gospel Church came along to Archview with his members of the congregation. Philip gave a service. We sang what a fried we have in Jesus and Amazing Grace. Knox played the violin to these songs. One of our carers Daniel who is much dedicated to his job here at Archview. Daniel joined in with dad, uncle and younger brothers to put on a Kia Kaha dance which all residents enjoyed.

One of our residents got to try a new activity. Helen and Diane went on a specialist Tri-Shaw ride with our lovely friends at Cycling without age. Our pilot Jane from ‘cycling without age’ did an amazing job she cycled us along the shore at Musselburgh harbour all the way to the ‘shell mussels’ statue.

The views were amazing with clear sight over the water.

Helen said she had an amazing experience and she had a smile from ear to ear throughout. She added that she will sleep well with all the sea air. Thanks again Jane from ‘Cycling without age’ our pilot and Bessie our trusty tricycle.

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

All residents here at Archview Lodge had an amazing weekend celebrating the kings coronation. We celebrated in style. Residents watch Prince Charles being crowned and Queen Camilla being crowned. Residents then had a coronation high tea. Big coronation Lunch on the Sunday. The residents enjoyed our entertainer Mary who played on the Sunday afternoon and to finish of our celebrations on The Monday we held a big coronation Barbeque with burgers hotdogs and chips. Residents said they had a lovely 3 days celebrating. Big thank you to our chef’s Ahmet & Scott.
