Activities at Austen House Care Home
Here at Austen House, we like to get to know those we support, and from the day of moving in, our activities team will spend time on an individual basis learning about interests, likes and dislikes, life history and favourite hobbies.
We provide a wide range of activities, from one-to-one time, manicures and board games, through to live entertainment, prize bingo and our ever-popular cheese & wine events. Our activities team will also tailor individual activities to ensure residents can have as much or as little involvement as they choose.
In the summer months, greater focus is given to outdoor activities, such as barbecues and garden parties. In conjunction with our Chef, themed events are planned throughout the year, bringing activities and food together.
In their pink polo shirts, our activities team are easily identifiable and embrace ideas and suggestions from residents and their relatives to ensure that the activities provided keep those we support engaged, stimulated and entertained.

Diwali
We had had a lot of fun with our Diwali celebrations here at Austen House.
Animal Therapy
Residents really enjoyed petting and holding the small animals that were brought into the home.
Cupcake Week
We celebrated National Cupcake Week here at Austen House, and residents really enjoyed baking and decorating cupcakes with loved ones.
Summer Fête
Austen House held a Summer Fête on 26th August. The turnout of loved ones was great and our local Deputy Mayor, Mr. John Kaiser, and his wife, honoured us with their presence and spent time with residents, staff and family members.
Staff arranged a BBQ, games and live music to entertain visitors and residents, which was highly appreciated by everyone. Mr. Kaiser and his wife also took the tour of Austen House with our General Manager and greatly admired and appreciated the quality of care and support being offered.
Employee of the Month - August
Congratulations to Audrey Mawere, who was named as Austen House's Employee of the Month for August.
Audrey has excelled in her role of Care Assistant through offering kindness to all residents and their loved ones. She is very hard working and eager to offer care and support consistently. She also offered to come to work on a very short notice when needed. She received two written nominations from the team nominating her for Employee of the Month and also received compliments from three different family members about her approach. She definitely deserved to be awarded – well done!
