Activities at Badgeworth Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators provide a stimulating social programme to suit residents' individual tastes and desires, and offer group or one-to-one activities based on individual preferences. We are a dedicated team that always ensures residents have enough to do to keep them stimulated and entertained. There are regular trips out on the minibus to nearby places of interest, and exercise classes to suit people of all capabilities, in addition to much, much more.

How We Used to Live

How We Used to Live

This session was hosted to commemorate the anniversary of the end of World War 1, so we spoke about how we used to live from 1914 to 1918.

The idea behind this session was to engage residents and encourage them to share memorabilia and personal memories. The visual or tactile value of the objects in front of the residents often bring comfort or evoke a reflection.

Topics covered in the session included the Suffragettes, WW1, life in the 1910s, shopping and fashion, social activities and royalty. Libby appeared in front of the residents in a Suffragettes costume with a sign saying 'Votes for Women', and she spoke about the marches and the struggles of women back in the early 1900s.

Libby had photographs of men enlisting and old advertisements on large boards for the residents to look at. She also brought in old copper kettles and a coal shovel for the residents to handle, much to their amusement. They particularly liked the miniature gramophone and the old smoking and cigarette tins.

Everyone is looking forward to Libby coming back again to teach us about a different era.

Gfitness

We recently had Tanya from Gfitness come to visit. One resident enjoyed getting into the swing of things by throwing the ball back and fourth.

Christmas Stencils

Christmas Stencils

Residents enjoyed painting Christmas stencils, which we then displayed in our Memory Lane community.

Halloween

We decorated the home in preparation for Halloween and residents came down and had their meals in the recently festooned dining room. We also held a pumpkin carving competition, and the winner can be see above.
