Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Donna Brooks
My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange.
I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities.
I'm bright and bubbly, so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.
As I get to know the residents likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bedewell Grange Care Home

A double birthday celebration
Dorothy and Mona shared their special day and enjoyed a party with entertainment from the fabulous Sam Naylor who sang us through the decades with a mix of music. Mona and Dorothy were joined by all their Bedewell friends. There was lots of singing and dancing. Both ladies were showered with gifts, flowers and love and enjoyed visits and time spent with family.

Come sing!
Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy. Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles. Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Inside the Factory
We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.
Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.
The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

Beat the Clock
We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.
Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Pet therapy with Honey
Our ladies gave our cavapoo Honey a nice pamper session. Honey was washed with a lovely bubble bath and preened to perfection. Pet therapy can help reduce anxiety , improve mood and encourage communication and engagement in people with dementia.
Honey was brushed and blow-dried by our ladies and looked like a new dog. Honey has a lovely relationship with our residents and is definitely part of the Bedewell team.

Easter preparation
We have been busy getting ready for our egg hunt which will take place on Easter Sunday. Residents grandchildren will be searching our gardens for colourful treats and will enjoy a visit from the Easter bunny.
Our residents have made Easter bonnets with lots of colourful ribbons ,pomp poms and miniature chicks and decorations ready for the event. Our residents are very creative and have made a lovely display.
