Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Donna Brooks
My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange.
I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities.
I'm bright and bubbly, so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.
As I get to know the residents likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Home visit Hebburn Tri Station
Staff from Bedewell took a visit to Hebburn Tri Station to welcome the emergency services to the local community with freshly baked croissants and gift bags.
Bedewell Grange offers a Blue light breakfast for all emergency service workers in the area, weekly every Tuesday from 07:30 – 10:30 am providing a hot cup of coffee or tea and continental breakfast.

Wonders of the ocean
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.

VE Day celebrations
We set up our own street party with lots of cakes and treats whilst singing along to songs such as knees up mother brown, it’s a long way to Tipperary which our residents took to the floor and danced along to.
Stories were shared of the sad and happy times that were had and the joy of the celebration of the end of World war 2 .

Celebrating Cadbury's
Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heartwarming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!

Flower weaving
We enjoy lots of craft classes at Bedewell Grange. Our ladies had a go at flower weaving. We used a mixture of bright coloured artificial flowers. We chose to go with artificial so the finished project could be kept to display in their bedrooms. It was lovely to see all the finished products were different but equally as creative and beautiful. Our residents really enjoyed the session and is something we will try again. We have focused allot around spring with our activities this month.

Easter Celebrations
We celebrated Easter with a tradition of hot cross buns delivered by the Easter bunny. We also held an egg hunt in the garden on Easter Sunday for all the children. There was allot of colourful activity and excitement as the children enjoyed running around collecting Easter goodies. Our residents loved seeing the children having so much fun and the Easter bunny joined in to help find the sweets. We finished off the morning with a buffet for everyone.
