Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Donna Brooks
My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange.
I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities.
I'm bright and bubbly, so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.
As I get to know the residents likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Getting out and about!
We’ve been making the most of the lovely weather and getting out and around our local area as part of our homes life enrichment programme. Our ladies have enjoyed visiting our local shopping centres and parks.
We have searched for squirrels and made friends with members of our local community, and we have enjoyed browsing round the shops and enjoyed having a peek through the sale rails.

National Relaxation Day
We celebrated National Relaxation day with lots of treatments including facials using home-made facemasks and also spa masks made from Mediterranean olive oil.
Of course our pamper sessions aren’t just for the ladies. Our gentleman also enjoyed hot towel shaves and we had foot spas for everyone.
We also enjoyed treats from our tipple trolley. Our ladies said their skin was glowing and everyone felt very relaxed.

Creative minds
We are delighted to welcome Anna, our volunteer to join us for our life enrichment activities as we start our ‘autumn project. Anna graduated from Nottingham Trent University in textile design.
Anna has a passion for combining creativity and health together, as well as improving peoples wellbeing. We are using fabric and felts to design a piece of art to display within our home.
There is a lot of creativity at Bedewell and our residents enjoy sharing ideas.

Homes join 100th virtual event
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
For those joining everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Trip to Bede world museum and the Anglo Saxon farm village
Our ladies enjoyed visiting and learning of the Anglo Saxons and the change in farming. The buildings are developed and built on archaeological evacuations carried out in Northumberland.
Our Ladies enjoyed feeding the animals and visiting the huts. Our ladies found the experience really interesting especially Ruby who was evacuated to a farm during the war. We find it important to get out and around our local area as it helps keep us socialised and helps keep us motivated and and improves our spirit.

Baking Club
Here at Bedewell we enjoy baking sessions which brings back allot of memories of Sundays which were baking days. Our residents like to share recipes and reminisce of the good old days. We baked a ham and cheese a pizza which we baked from scratch including the base which was mixed and rolled out into the tin before adding our toppings. There is always a team spirit with our residents helping each other.
