Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

The personal touch this Christmas
Residents are keen to give Christmas the personal touch this year by making their own Christmas cards. Our cards will be posted into our own post box and delivered in plenty of time for families to enjoy
Movie Matinee
Beeston View residents enjoyed a Matinee Movie watching the musical film "Love me Tender" featuring Elvis Presley. Everyone loved the music throughout and we tasted various flavours of popcorn, the favourite seemed to be buttery and salted!
Bonfire night festivities
Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Residents celebrated bonfire night on 5th November. In celebration, the home created a very special indoor firework and bonfire display. The residents enjoyed traditional bonfire night treats, including toffee apples, treacle toffee and parkin beautifully prepared by the homes chefs.
Residents honour the fallen
Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View commemorated Remembrance Sunday on 08th November, where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.
As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, some residents started their remembrance by painting poppies and making crafts which were used for decoration of the home. This helped stimulate memories and them to share stories and talk about the importance of Remembrance.
One of the Residents said it made her feel proud to make things to remember those who had fought for their country. After watching the service staff and Residents joined together for photographs with their banner and poppies.
A wish is granted
Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View through the life enrichment programme are looking at new ways to keep residents socially and mentally stimulated, As part of their person centered activities ‘making a Wish’ initiative, residents are given the opportunity to tell staff about something they would like to do in their wildest dreams. This could include virtually visiting a magical place or enjoying a special activity, with staff then doing their upmost to make that dream become a reality in some form.
For one resident, it was simply to handle her typewriter, so she can write stories and her thoughts to remember so she can talk about it. The homes activities team are delighted as they watch her daily practise!
Gingerbread decorating
Residents from Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View enjoyed an afternoon of gingerbread decorating as part of their baking club, which took them back to their younger years. Baking sessions are a popular activity for the home and the activity had taste buds tingling.
The homes activities coordinator, said: “The residents enjoyed getting creative with their decorations as it not only brings back memories of their childhood, but also times when they’ve baked with their own children and grandchildren. Once all the biscuits were decorated, we all enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea and a home-made cake.”
