Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Smiles all around for Friendship Day
Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View had a blast celebrating Friendship Day on 30th July with residents spending quality time with each other sharing stories from friendships old and new as they rememberd memorable moments. It was a fun filled day of activities, games, singing and refreshments topped off with a traditional afternoon tea and ice-cream. There were smiles all round as staff also shared the importance of friends and how they can enrich your life.
The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
Staying In Touch
Residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View have been hard at work creating cards to send to their loved ones as a surprise as part of International Friendship Day. They have decorated the front and written personalised messages on the inside. Residents have also been making use of skype and facetime so that they can video call their relatives – although some weren’t too sure about the new technology!
Don't worry 'Beer' happy!
You better beer-lieve that residents at Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View care home in Clotton, were more than hoppy to raise a glass, and sample some top ales, in celebration of National Beer Day.
Beer lovers at the home celebrated, and spread beery joy along with millions of people across the country to say ‘Cheers to Beer’! The hospitality team at brought in a range of brew-tiful British ales for residents to sample and they enjoyed a beer tasting and learning about the history of beer.
Farai Hanyane Operations Manager at the home, said: “We love socialising and celebrating all kind of events. Beer day is one that the residents really enjoy, it’s nice for them to enjoy a tipple! We are continually adapting, and finding new ways to make sure every effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, whilst adhering to social distancing advice.”
A 'blooming' afternoon fun
The ladies of Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View took advantage of the dry weather to enjoy a walk around the homes extensive grounds and to pick flowers ready for an afternoon of flower arranging.
The home and gardens are looking especially bright and floral, as the raised flowerbeds have started blooming.
Once back indoors the ladies used their creative flair to create wonderful displays to decorate their rooms and communal areas of the home for all to see. It was a colourful session and conversation flowed as they talked about their favourite plants and flowers.
Life's a picnic at home
Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View care home went all out for National Picnic Week on 28th June. Residents were invited to deckchair on the home’s neatly mowed lawn and enjoy the beautiful weather. A whole host of treats were laid on to celebrate.
Hampers, prepared by the hospitality team at the home, were packed to the brim with fresh fruits, soft drinks for residents to enjoy al fresco. The fun didn’t stop there as some of the other delights on offer included outdoor games including darts, ball and discus throwing as everyone enjoyed the fun in the sun.
Farai Hanyane, Operations Manager at the home, said: “Picnic Week is a great excuse for us to get outside and enjoy a picnic in the beautiful gardens In these unprecedented times, we are continually finding new ways to make sure every effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, whilst adhering to social distancing advice.”
