Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.
Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Open Day Entertainment
We had Entertainment from the wonderful Hugh Dent, who helped us celebrate our open day. Residents were very much involved in the singing and dancing and were entertained for well over the 1 hour slot time.
Summer Blooms
We took a trip to the local garden centre so that residents could look at the summer blooms and plants, and also look around the lovely gift shop there. We went to the café for a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake as well. One resident bumped into an old friend and was able to catch up, which was great. A loved one came along with us too, and he was delighted to be able to have a trip out with his wife.
Arts & Crafts
We have been creating models out of Plasticine with Beeston View residents. We made some wonderful creations, including chickens, cats, flowers and Easter Island heads. It was lovely to see the residents being so creative and we were also able to use the plasticine as a sensory tool and got everyone to talk about how they felt. It was a fun afternoon.
Reminiscence in the Garden
On days when the sun is shining, we all gather in the outdoor courtyards to share stories and chat about life in general. It’s a lovely way for the residents to interact with each other and the staff. We talk about residents' old careers and always share our top stories over a cup of tea or two.
Walk & Talk Club
We are continuing our Walk & Talk Club regularly, especially whilst the weather is so lovely. Residents and staff walk around our wonderful gardens looking at the flowers and plants, and we have many a varied conversation whilst we are out and about.
We will sit and rest on our benches and put the world to rights. We have covered topics such as holidays, hardening tips, exercising, animals and even discussed romance. It is a great way to get to know the residents on a more personal level.
Fancy Dress
We had a dress-up session at Beeston View, where residents enjoyed putting on '50s-style outfits. One resident in particular was very taken with her red polka dot number and decided to wear it for the rest of the day.
