Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Jubilee celebrations fit for a Queen!
We marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with fantastic activities and a royal party!
In recognition of the special occasion, we decorated our home with bunting, beautiful flower displays and themed royal items, including flags and printed photos of the Queen. We also had a very special visit from the lovely KL PONY Therapy. Thank you so much for an amazing morning!
During the day, our residents enjoyed a variety of sensory sessions and fun-filled activities made their own crowns; watched the national celebrations on the TV; enjoyed refreshing royal drinks with strawberries and sparkling mocktails.
To make things even more interesting, we’ve hosted our very own Royal Party where community members, families and friends were invited.
Everyone enjoyed delicious sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented chef and his team, along with tasty mocktails and hot beverages. The event was a big success.
Our festivities were fantastic and everyone was thrilled to celebrate the longest serving British monarch in style.
It was a great day, enjoyed by all
Flower Arranging
Residents have enjoyed flower arranging for our upcoming Jubilee party.
Floral arranging gives our residents chance to come together. It can also stimulate the senses of smell, sight and touch, helping to reduce any feelings of stress and anxiety.
They have made beautiful creations to be admired and enjoyed by all.
We also have started creating our collage of through the years of Her Majesty. Residents reminisced and discussed their most favourable memories of The Queen.
Jubilee Preparations
Our craft club have started on the Jubilee inspired decorations and props, aren’t they fabulous!
Over the next few days our residents will be super busy preparing for the big day.
Eyes down, look in!
It has been a bit chilly and rainy so we've been playing a spot of bingo in our cozy, warm living room.
While its a good giggle, it certainly shows the competitive streak our residents would have had in the bingo halls back in the day!
Virtual event with Graham Whitlock
We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.
Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure.
A great time was had by all.
World Bee Day!
What a brilliant day we’ve all had, celebrating World Bee Day with fun-filled activities and educational sessions provided by Oomph Wellness.
Our residents got creative and made this Bee Happy poster. In the afternoon we went for a walk in the garden to see if we could spot any.
Guess what?! We found one!
It was a lovely day, which brought a lot of smiles into the home.
