Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.
Yasmine Dawson
I have worked at Braeburn Lodge since 2015. I started working as a carer and the activities side of the role really appealed to me. We organise a variety of activities to suit everybody’s preferences and abilities. I enjoy working at Braeburn and making a difference to the residents’ lives.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
The rich history of coronations
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
The Coronation fever has truly set in!
Over the last couple of weeks our wonderful residents have been working extra hard on preparing for our big celebratory party on the 7th of May this year.
Some of our residents have been keen on making the decorations, some of them have been knitting wonderful royal dolls and some have even written beautiful letters to our new king.
The King’s Coronation will be a very memorable occasion for all our residents this year. All the staff at Braeburn Lodge will try their very best to make sure our lovely residents enjoy the coronation weekend as much as possible.
A Wonderful walk in the gardens
It was a beautiful and fresh morning in the gardens of Braeburn Lodge. We took this as a great opportunity to start our very first walking club. Some of residents were very keen to join in!
Experts have said that walking should be the best exercise for seniors; it's an effective way to reduce the risk for chronic conditions and improve your overall health.
As one of our residents kindly quoted: “this was my best walk of this week! I shall try to join you as much as I can!”
Home celebrate Easter in style
Staff, residents and family at Barchester’s Braeburn Lodge care home, in Deeping St. James celebrated Easter with a whole host of different activities including an Easter egg hunt, Easter Raffle, Easter Tombola and an Arts & Crafts corner for the children to enjoy. There was also a live concert in the garden, prepared especially for this wonderful event.
Welcome to Spring Activities
We have spent the last few weeks preparing ourselves for Spring, whether it be planting new seeds or creating beautiful paintings.
Many of our residents were budding “artists” in the past and still like to be as creative as they can be. So we provided lots of new resources for residents to explore and play around with. We also received a lot of support from our wonderful care team during these exciting activities.
Mother's Day Treat
We decided to treat our lovely Ladies this year with a lovely Pre-Mother’s Day concert. Many of our residents joined us for this event with family members and friends, making this day even more special for them.
Gabriella, our entertainer for the day is a very talented opera trained singer who specialises in classical music. She interacted with our residents on a one-to-one basis and made sure she sang songs which would tailor the personal needs of all residents. Our residents were also treated to some delicious cake and light refreshments throughout the morning.
By the end of our concert a few of our residents were quite emotional and as one quoted “ The song Memory was my mum’s favourite song! This concert has meant so much more to me,”.
