Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Nene Valley

Nene Valley

One sunny afternoon, residents at Braeburn Lodge enjoyed a minibus trip out to our local train station, Nene Valley Railway. We had a fun-filled day that included a trip on a steam train, followed by a relaxing picnic.

Deeping Bowls

Deeping Bowls

Perfect weather greeted the 54 people who made up the 18 teams that played at the Deeping Bowling Association Open Triples Competition on Sunday 6th August, which was sponsored by Braeburn Lodge.

The players came from clubs throughout the Peterborough area, the Deepings and the surrounding villages.

Each team played 4 games, consisting of 8 ends and 3 wood triples. Ten points were up for grabs in each game, with a maximum of 40 points possible for the tournament.

Don Garner, Janet Garner and Nathan Puttrell were the runners up, with a score of 26.

The winners, with a score of 32 points, were Michael Humphrey, Stephen Harris and Phil Hickey.

The trophies were awarded by the club President, Geoff Cree, and the winners also received a beautiful floral bouquet each, whilst the runners up were treated to a bottle of Prosecco, which were very kindly provided by Braeburn Lodge.

The awards were presented by Barchester’s Customer Relationship Manor, Wendy Twydell, and our Activities Coordinator, Jo Wrath.

Open Day at Braeburn Lodge

Open Day at Braeburn Lodge

We celebrated Care Home Open Day with residents and loved ones, as well as opening the door to our local community.

The day was a real success; there were lots of stalls, ice cream and a traditional afternoon tea with Pimm's; lots of laughter and lots of games that were enjoyed by all.

The 'Throw a Sponge' stall gave the opportunity for people to get our Activities Coordinator, Jo Wrath, wet and messy

Cheese & Wine Evening

Cheese & Wine Evening

We welcomed the new General Manager to Braeburn Lodge with a cheese and wine evening.

Residents and loved ones enjoyed a lovely evening getting to know Daniela Phillips.

Good wine and cheese was served to all and the excitement continued late into the evening.

Braeburn Lodge supports local charity

Braeburn Lodge supports local charity

We had our open day this weekend at Braeburn Lodge. It was a lot of fun, with lots of people attending the event.

The money we raised on the day will be use to support our local Pet refuge.

The Exotic Pet Refuge was founded in 1984, and is a small charity that provides a permanent home to a large variety of unwanted and neglected exotic animals from all kinds of backgrounds - private owners, RSPCA, zoos that closed down... the list goes on.

We will be handing a cheque to them very soon with the money we raised at the Open Day.

Home baking at Braeburn Lodge

Home baking at Braeburn Lodge

What a delight we had one afternoon, baking on Memory Lane with our residents went down a storm!  Residents and staff beat the eggs and mixed all the ingredients together, which got everyone talking about the cakes they used to make …The lemon drizzle cakes went down very well with a cup of tea!

We can’t wait for the next time!
