Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

A sad farewell at Braeburn Lodge

A sad farewell at Braeburn Lodge

The staff and residents gave a very emotional farewell to one of our long serving nurses, her career spans over 41 years of nursing and is now retiring to enjoy her life with her family and friends.

Well done and congratulations to you, now it’s time for feet up and long holidays. We wish Lydia all the best.

15 Years of Service

15 Years of Service

General Manager, Daniela Phillips, presented our outstanding 15 Year Service Award to Administrator, Nicola Middlebrook, thanking her for all of her hard work and commitment at Barchester over the last 15 years.

Young Explorers

Young Explorers

Our local Explorers visited us recently.

They weeded and replanted our raised flower beds in the courtyard garden, which is now awash with colour. They also unpacked and built our new garden furniture; we had quite a production line going.

It’s a pleasure relaxing in the garden, which is private and pretty for all to enjoy.

Thank you to the young people for coming to the home and meeting staff and residents.

Morning Exercise

Morning Exercise

We had a fun-filled morning exercising to upbeat music with Danni from Boogie Beat. There was no chance of us just sitting and watching, as her energy is so infectious. We went from a warm up of stretching to a crescendo of pom-poms!

It was a great morning to get us all in the mood and fully energised for the rest of the day. There were so many laughs; even the General Manager joined in with this activity.

Afternoon Entertainment

Afternoon Entertainment

Residents at Braeburn enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the courtyard garden playing a giant game of Ker Plunk.

Brownies

Brownies

We opened our doors to our local Brownies within the area for them to visit residents. They made colourful craft baskets for us to decorate our home with. We then all enjoyed a lovely cup of tea with delicious homemade cupcakes.

We would certainly invite them back again; they gave us so much pleasure and all the residents agree.
