Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.
Yasmine Dawson
I have worked at Braeburn Lodge since 2015. I started working as a carer and the activities side of the role really appealed to me. We organise a variety of activities to suit everybody’s preferences and abilities. I enjoy working at Braeburn and making a difference to the residents’ lives.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
Deeping Methodist Church's Christmas Festival
Over the weekend, our local Methodist Church held a Christmas festival, with entrants from all over town submitting Christmas trees and angles - homemade and decorated - to represent their businesses. We, of course, entered our Braeburn apple tree again this year with the addition of tiny balls of yarn and knitting needles. While we were there, we were treated to the most divine spread imaginable with all sorts of homemade treats for us to enjoy with a cup of tea. After we had warmed up, we took a tour of the building to see people’s creations and we had a fabulous afternoon with the members of the church, chatting and laughing together. A big think you to the Deeping Methodist Church and all of their kind hospitality!
Reindeer Games
Christmas has arrived! To mark the beginning of this festive period, we took a bus of residents up to Baytree Garden Centre in Spalding to see the reindeer there. They were ever so hungry for both carrots and a bit of fuss as well! It was a lovely way to mark the start of the Christmas period.
Christmas Crafts
We’ve started getting ready for Christmas this week as the Memory Lane residents got stuck in making centre-pieces for dining tables across our home. There were some lovely creations made and even our staff got stuck into the fun. I’d say it’s certain… Christmas is coming!
More Tai Chi with Ray
Our Tai Chi lesson with Ray was as well-attended as ever. Word has gotten out about the gentle strengthening exercises that we love so much! We pushed our limits as we worked our bodies and afterwards we enjoyed a lovely lunch as a reward for our hard work.
Ten-Pin Bowling
We gathered up as many faces as we could onto our Memory Lane unit this Tuesday afternoon and we did some bowling together. All abilities were catered for, with residents throwing their balls from their chairs or supported by walking frames. We don’t let anything get in the way of fun here at Braeburn!
A Game of Bowls
We gathered up a fair few faces for our bowls game. There were some very close calls and Rev Linda couldn’t resist the temptation to join in as well. Of course, in ultimate Braeburn fashion, the finale was the gorgeous homemade jam cake and cup of tea that we rewarded ourselves with.
