Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Trip to the Local Beer Garden

Trip to the Local Beer Garden

With the weather being as great as it has been recently, we couldn’t resist a trip to one of our local's, The Old Coach House, for a drink by the river. The scenery was just stunning and the river so clear; it made for a lovely place to just sit. The staff and the patrons were incredible as well, jumping to help us with doors and carrying drinks without a thought. It was a gorgeous place to just sit and admire the surroundings and we hope to return again soon.

Our Monthly Boundary Lunch

Our Monthly Boundary Lunch

Our Monthly Boundary Lunch was a big hit, yet again, with some new faces added to the group which was lovely to see. The grape ice cream is becoming famous and was ordered en masse this time. With excellent personal service and fantastic grub, it’s no surprise that next month's lunch is already getting booked up!

Jeremy Hillyard in Concert at Essex Road

Jeremy Hillyard in Concert at Essex Road

We braved the heatwave to get down to Stamford for a brilliant show of singing, dancing - and quite a bit of laughing too! We took a packed lunch and made an afternoon of it, snapping up the best seats in the house! Once the music began, we were invited to join in with duets and dance with the star of the show himself! We captured so many smiles and laughs and made amazing memories together. We can’t wait for the next show!

Kings Lynn Brass Band Orchestra

Kings Lynn Brass Band Orchestra

We recently attended a concert in Ayscoughfee Gardens, in Spalding, to see the Kings Lynn Brass Band Orchestra play some musical classics. We had a lovely spot in the shade and enjoyed tea and biscuits as we listened. The atmosphere was relaxed and open as we conversed with strangers and shared our biscuits with the people around us. The setting was the icing on the cake, being in the glorious gardens, surrounded by wonderfully shaped trees and colourful flower beds. It's safe to say we can’t wait for next Sunday’s Ukulele Orchestra!

Out for Coffee

Out for Coffee

On a sunny Wednesday morning, residents headed out for a walk through the market. Unbeknownst to us, two of our Nurses, Ewa and Jane, were also out that morning and, after a spot of shopping, we met up for a coffee in Cinnamon Coffee Shop. Ewa had her very young baby boy with her, whom the residents found adorable. It was lovely for us to see Ewa again and we look forward to her coming back after her maternity leave.
