Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Pudding Club

Our monthly pudding clubs are still as popular as ever with Head Chef Glenn leading Septembers with his take on both homemade chocolate muffins and Bakewell tarts.

Glenn provided a cooking demonstration for both puddings and then the all-important taste test!

As the countdown to Christmas is about to begin Glenn also took the opportunity to speak to the residents about their Christmas menu preferences and ask for their input in designing our Christmas cakes. We are excited to see what they put together for the special occasion.

Residents left pudding club with their homework and planning for Christmas has now officially begun here at Brampton View!!

History

As we share stories of our lives during our time here at Brampton View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare it became very apparent that although we now live in Northampton most of us aren't actually from here. Conversations then turned to the history of Northampton of which we weren't really sure. There was only one solution for this, we had to call in the experts! Graham Evans the Chair of Northampton Battlefield Society paid us a visit to explain more on the deep history of Northampton and the part the area has played in the history of England. Graham shared the battles that have been fought in the area and how Kings of the past would use Northampton as a meeting point due to its central location and green spaces. Did you know the oldest cannon ball found after battle was actually found here in Northampton? We were fascinated to learn more of our town's history and have Graham answer all of our questions. We feel very privileged to live in an area with such a deep history and we are very intrigued to keep exploring that further!

Magic Show

“Alongside other local businesses Brampton View care home hosted an event for families and children of the local community to attend during the summer holidays. Brampton View offered a free hot meal to all who attended and then an afternoon of magic from local magician Crazy Colin!

Members of the local community with their children were able to join residents and staff from the home to enjoy this end of summer performance. Everyone was taken in by the magic tricks and trying to figure out the magic behind them.

The hospitality team at Brampton View care home produced a wonderful lunch for those in attendance and homemade treats during the performance of cakes and flapjacks.

This event is the first of many of its kind for Brampton View care home as they continue to work alongside West Northants Council to offer services to the local community.”

Bingo!

“Staff and residents from Barchester’s Brampton View care home, in Northampton, joined fellow keen dabbers from over 260 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Wight, to compete in one of the biggest games of bingo Barchester has ever seen!

Barchester’s Big Bingo Bonanza took place on 27th August 2024 when Brampton View care home got super competitive and took on its sister homes from all over the country to find out which Barchester home or hospital was a dab hand at bingo.  It was eyes down for a full house as the homes battled it out to find out who would prevail.

General Manager, Mo Masedi said: “We’ve got some real bingo fanatics at our home, we are very competitive - our residents love taking part in anything where winning is involved, you could hear a pin drop in here when we were all playing.”

Animal Therapy Day

“Brampton View Care Home in Northampton celebrated it’s very first animal themed day on Monday 26th August 2024. Residents and staff from the home were treated to a day of animal therapy, animal themed quiz and pet reminiscence.

Residents, their relatives and staff all got involved with the spirit of the animal themed day and took part in animal therapy, some even conquering their fears and holding animals you might not normally consider for therapy including rats and lizards. Residents also shared memories of their pets from throughout their lives and animals they had seen whilst travelling. One resident told stories of seeing lions whilst on safari in Africa.”

Celebrating Notting Hill Carnival

Staff and residents at Brampton View care home in Northampton, have decorated their home and garden to re-create the atmosphere of the Notting Hill Carnival this August.  Staff and residents have had a fantastic time experiencing all the Caribbean flavours of the carnival from street food to cocktails and live music, there has been a real carnival vibe at the home.

The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual Caribbean festival featuring sound systems and parade bands that has taken place since the mid-1960s on the streets of London around Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove.  Many residents have enjoyed visiting the carnival in years gone by and so the home’s activities team wanted to try to recreate its style by bringing the carnival to Northampton.
