Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Creating Masterful Artwork

Residents on our Memory Lane community have been getting creative and putting their skills to the test with a morning of painting. Residents gathered overlooking the garden and painted autumnal scenes on canvas. Whilst they painted the colours of the garden were discussed and their memories of the changing seasons.

The artwork is proudly on display around our Memory Lane community and we are looking forward to growing our own artwork collection. You don't need to be good at painting, it’s about the creativity in painting being good for you

At Brampton View Care home we support our residents to continue with their favourite hobbies, and encourage them to share and teach others about these too.

Rise Life Rugby

Residents enjoyed another session with Rise Life Rugby, Northampton & Coventry

Janja spent time getting to know each of our residents to help tailor the games and exercises to their own abilities. This month's session consisted of tennis, hockey, rugby and interactive quiz questions all from the comfort of our chairs. The residents had an enjoyable afternoon was spent laughing away without even realising they were doing any exercise!

Congratulations to the blue team who were crowned this month's winners, the competition was fierce and the scoring was extremely close. The red team are looking forward to taking back the trophy next time!”

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is expert-led physical exercise. Resident involvement in choosing formats along with feedback after each session means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

Culture Day

Residents and staff from Brampton View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare recently took part in a culture day. The aim of the day was to celebrate, honour and experience different cultures from around the world!

The day began with a tasting session of snacks from around the world including some traditional favourites such as Turkish Delight and croissants. The more adventurous of us sampled sweet and savoury treats from countries including Japan, China and Morocco

The afternoon saw us experiencing an activity most have never seen before. Egyptian Belly Dancing! The fabulous Doe joined us for a performance and even taught us some moves along with seated exercise! We had the opportunity to try a brand new skill and ask Doe questions about the art of Egyptian Belly Dancing.

The day was a huge success with residents thoroughly enjoying themselves and some have even asked for another belly dancing lesson.

A wish come true!

Resident shopaholic Jean had requested a trip to her favourite garden centre Beckworth Emporium and we were only too happy to help her make this wish come true!

Jean shops at Beckworth Emporium every time her family visit and it has quickly become one of her favourite places in the area. Jean had asked if it would be possible to go for a browse and have a look at their selection of her favourite plants - Orchids and treat herself to a slice of cake.

Upon hearing her wish the activity team arranged a day to take Jean shopping. Jean was accompanied by friends from Brampton View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare who all shared Jean's love of the Emporium and have asked if we can visit again once the Christmas decorations and gifts are on display!

A huge thank you to all the kind staff at Beckworth Emporium for hosting us and being so friendly!

We are already planning our next visit. . .

Pudding Club

Our monthly pudding clubs are still as popular as ever with Head Chef Glenn leading Septembers with his take on both homemade chocolate muffins and Bakewell tarts.

Glenn provided a cooking demonstration for both puddings and then the all-important taste test!

As the countdown to Christmas is about to begin Glenn also took the opportunity to speak to the residents about their Christmas menu preferences and ask for their input in designing our Christmas cakes. We are excited to see what they put together for the special occasion.

Residents left pudding club with their homework and planning for Christmas has now officially begun here at Brampton View!!

History

As we share stories of our lives during our time here at Brampton View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare it became very apparent that although we now live in Northampton most of us aren't actually from here. Conversations then turned to the history of Northampton of which we weren't really sure. There was only one solution for this, we had to call in the experts! Graham Evans the Chair of Northampton Battlefield Society paid us a visit to explain more on the deep history of Northampton and the part the area has played in the history of England. Graham shared the battles that have been fought in the area and how Kings of the past would use Northampton as a meeting point due to its central location and green spaces. Did you know the oldest cannon ball found after battle was actually found here in Northampton? We were fascinated to learn more of our town's history and have Graham answer all of our questions. We feel very privileged to live in an area with such a deep history and we are very intrigued to keep exploring that further!
